Bengal BJP submits memorandum with the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission & organises protest rally against the latest wave of violence on Bangladesh Hindus & other minorities .
Upananda Brahmachari & Krishanu Mitra | Kolkata | Dec 5, 2013 :: A delegation of West Bengal State BJP leaders lead by State President Sri Rahul Sinha & National Executive member Sri Tathagata Roy met with the resident Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Abu Nasar Md. Anowarul Islam in Kolkata today and submitted a memorandum regarding the latest wave of violence against minority Hindus by Islamists. The delegation highlighted the series of atrocities against Hindus as reported in mainline Bangladeshi newspapers to the Hon’ble Dy. High Commissioner. The situation is so grave that the mandarins in the West Bengal government has already been alerted by the Intelligence agencies over another round of refugee influx in the border areas.
The other members of the delegation were Smt Gouri Chowdhury (National Executive member, BJP), Sri Badsha Alam (Vice President, WB State BJP), Sri Samik Bhattacharya (Spokesperson, WB State BJP), Sri Subrato Chattopadhaya (Executive member, WB State BJP) and Sri Shalil Ansari (President, WB State BJP, Minority Cell).
The memorandum categorically indicates the ongoing attack upon Hindus, Buddhists and Christians including murder, rape, desecration of temples and shrines, forceful encroachment of properties and evacuation of Minorities of Bangladesh. The memorandum highlighted the genocides in Noakhali & Chandpur (1946), killing, mass rape and atrocities upon Hindu communities held time to time in Bangladesh in the year 195, 1964 & 1971 in the East Pakistan regime and 1992, 2001 and 2013 in Bangladesh regime.
In the memorandum it is stated that a section of Bangladesh rooted intellectuals, writers and activists like Shariar Kabir, Muntasir Manoon, Humayun Azad, Salam Azad, Ratanlal Chakroborty and Ajoy Roy have been highlighting the attack and persecution upon minorities in Bangladesh in different forums. But unfortunately, the Bangladesh minorities are not never feeling their safety, security and honour anyway.
Later a protest demonstration was organised by the BJP in the College Street area of Kolkata over the issue. The entire state leadership was present in this protests and several of them including Sri Rahul Sinha & Sri Tathagata Roy addressed the gathering. All the speakers highlighted the plight of the orphaned Hindus of Bangladesh and the sheer indifference and criminal silence of other political parties under the garb of competitive secular appeasement politics.
Both the time in deputation and in the protest rally, the BJP leaders press hard that the First Constitution of Bangladesh as adopted in 1971 by Banga Bandhu Mujibar Rehaman should be restored again by rejecting the present constitution which declares Islam as a State Religion of Bangladesh.
The speakers in the protest rally criticize the role of present Govt. of West Bengal led by Mamata Banerjee of Trinmool Congress, which is completely silent over the persecution of minorities in a neighboring country. The speakers say the the minorities of the Bangladesh are the relatives of the majority people of West Bengal. If any repercussion is created here in West Bengal for the apprehending exodus of Bangladesh Hindus, the situation can go beyond control.
Latter speaking to press, senior party leader and spokesperson Sri Samik Bhattacharya said that if the attack and atrocities on our Hindu brotherens are not stopped immediately and the Bangladesh government doesn’t take adequate measures towards the security and safety of Hindus and other minorities then the BJP will go for large-scale agitation through out West Bengal and if need be may call for blockade of all supplies to Bangladesh through West Bengal.
