Angered by the meeting, people protested outside the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi with some protesters being detained, according to reports. Clashes were also reported between the police and protesters outside the high commission. The protesters want the Pakistan high commissioner to be sent back.

Earlier today, Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that Kashmir is an international issue and not an internal issue of India, IANS reported.

“First of all when they say Kashmir is an internal issue, it is against the reality. The issue of Jammu & Kashmir is an international issue and it should be solved,” Geelani, who is in Delhi to meet Pakistan’s high commissioner, told reporters at the airport.

“It is unfortunate that the Indian government has cancelled the (foreign secretary-level) talks,” he said.

“As long as promises made to us are not fulfilled, this issue will remain unsolved,” said Geelani.

Hindu Sena ProtestsHe said India is not trying to resolve the issue and suppressing it.

“India does not want to resolve the issue … It is using force to suppress it,” he said.

Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the Indian government has overreacted.

“New Delhi overreacted on the issue … There has to be a peaceful, political resolution to the Kashmir issue,” Farooq told a news channel.

The Indian government on Monday called off the August 25 foreign secretary-level talks, calling Pakistan’s engagement with the Kashmiri separatists unacceptable.

India slammed it as a continued efforts to interfere in its internal affairs.

Congress flays govt over cancellation of India-Pak talks: PTI

Congress on Tuesday kept up the attack on NDA over cancellation of Indo-Pak talks even as the government and BJP said the neighbouring country cannot “walk with separatism and talk with Government of India” simultaneously.

Hitting out at the government, Congress leader Manish Tewari said it was in a “sonorous slumber” over the Pakistan issue.

He said the government has “completely walked itself into a corner” on the Pakistan policy and termed the talks between Hurriyat leaders and Pakistan a “ritual”, which the neighbouring country always follows before any interaction between the two nations.

“So they first agreed to talk to Pakistan, that also in Islamabad, notwithstanding all this background. The government was in sonorous slumber and when there was a protest, it woke up and indulged in a knee-jerk reaction.

“Now with the separatists challenging the government and the Pakistan high commissioner cocking a dare at the government that they are still going ahead with their proposed interactions, what does government of India do the next. What is the strategy of the government of India towards Pakistan,” Tewari asked.

Justifying the move, law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “The point is very simple. Either Pakistan should talk to the Government of India or they should talk to separatists. They chose to talk to the separatists first inspite of clearly being told that if this persistence is there, it will be difficult to pursue the dialogue.”

He rued that despite this having been made clear from the Indian side, “yet the Pakistani high commissioner called them. It was not fair. The point is simple. We have always said that you can change your friends but not your neighbours.

Yasin Malik and Syed Ali Shah Geelani If they like Pakistan too much then they should go to Pakistan for good not to return to India for whole life. How Pakistan will reacts if Indian Embassy in Islamabad invites Baloch Leaders for talks? India should learn that as long Pakistan Exists on Western Frontiers of India and Bangladesh on other side will keep on making problems for India.

Inspite of the instructions by Indian government Pakistan High Commissionar Abdul Basit not only met Kashmir sepratists and anti national elements , Pakistan and its high comissionar are justifying their act and showing eyes to India on this Issue by saying that it is an international issue .Pakistan nither respects Shimla aggrement nor Lahor aggrement . No matter how many aggrements you do with Pakistan problem is not going to solve . For Pakistan it is a part of Jehad . With every aggrement pakistan gets some concessions and India Looses but the problem remains as it is .
Since Pakistan high commissionar has not respected Indian Govt. instructions , in a way it is a challange to India . India should immediately send back pakistan high commissionar and stop all talks and should declare that whole Kasmir is an integral part of India and talks can be only on Pak occupied Kashmir. .
