High Alert: The deadliest Mayhem to the Indian Hindus may come next from Rohingya Muslim Refugees.  

Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | New Delhi | July 21, 2015:: The Intelligence agencies both from internal and external sources have indicated a high alert about a probable threat  from Rohingya refugees from Myanmar illegally staying in India.  This dangerous alert has been sounded after a recent interception suggested that some of Rohingya refugees are in touch with the Saudi Arabia-based ‘Gulf Rohingya Council’ which is also connected with Lashker-e-Toiba and Pakistani Intelligence agency ISI.

“There are possibilities that Rohingya Muslims might be exploited by ISI to support jihad…There is also a possibility that Rohingya youths may be waylaid into a radical path,” the intelligence input said.

The sudden rise in number of Rohingya Muslims settling in India has set the alarm bells ringing among the security agencies with Bureau of Immigration (BoI) claiming that more than 10,000 families are reported to have settled in India with Jammu and Kashmir recording the highest number. The security agencies suspect that the actual number of Rohingyas staying illegally in India may be much higher than the available data and poses more serious security threat to India’s internal security even than the Maoist and other subversive groups.

According to available  official data, there are nearly 6684 families of Rohingyas settled in Jammu and Kashmir while 1755 are reported to be in Andhra Pradesh. The issues was taken up by the Centre recently with States after deputy NSA Arvind Gupta held a meeting in June over increasing infiltration of Rohingya into India from Myanmar. The government also asked the States to prepare the list of the families, refugees’ camps, their occupation and place of origin in Myanmar.

These Rohingya refugees in India enjoy the support of various Indian Muslim groups including All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and that some of them have become pro-active in bringing up the Rohingya issue on international forums. AIMIM have always been vocal for the rehabilitation of these Rohingyas in the then Andhra Assembly and Indian Parliament. The other reliable source suggests that there are at least 1.5 lakh Rohingya infiltrators are presently staying in different states in India.

As per the intelligence report 1,755 Rohnigya Muslims are staying in makeshift camps  in Andhra Pradesh. The Centre has asked the state government to keep a close watch on the Rohingya population. Andhra has second highest population of  Rohingya Muslims, after Jammu & Kashmir.

After the  arrest of  Khalid Mohammed, actually a Rohingya terrorist from Bangladesh, in connection with the Burdwan blast in Bengal last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) explored the ‘Lashkar-e-Toiba and Rohingya connection’ in India.  Khalid was trained by Lashkar-e-Toiba and was part of an international module linked to Rohingya Muslims, sources said.

The security agencies also warned the Centre that Pakistan’s Inter State Intelligence (ISI) may try to exploit Rohingyas to support jihad. Recently, Delhi based Rohingya youth have become proactive in placing the Rohingya issues on International Rights Forum, as well as  making contacts with various International Rohingya bodies connected with Jihadi activities.

Another alarming development, intelligence agencies point out to the fact that Rohingya Muslims in the valley are marrying Kashmiri girls which may pave the way for their permanent settlement in Indian soil. In August 2011, the United Nations High Commission for Refugee (UNHCR) issued ‘Asylum Seeker Cards’ to some Rohingyas Muslims staying in India for the last 4-5 years.

They have since then started demanding refugee status from the UNHCR to enable them to stay legally or relocate to a third country. At present, the Indian states where maximum influx of Rohingyas are seen: Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Manipur.

After a series havoc riots occurred between Rohingya Muslims and Buddhists in Myanmar’s Rakhine state in 2012, a large number of Rohingyas started fleeing the country, and some of them entered India, largely through land routes in the Northeast. Many of the refugees, while fleeing Rakhine, had landed up in Andaman & Nicobar islands either by design or owing to boat mishaps. Siliguri in West Bengal is another entry point of Rohingya migrants in India.

Through an ‘Infiltration Jihad’, Rohingya refugees are spreading fast  all over India and they are presently living in J&K, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab and West Bengal.

To fulfil their ambition of Jihad for setting up an Islamic State in India, these Rohingya, dark horse of Islamic Jihad may materialize the deadliest mayhem to the majority Hindu people with the help of ISIm LeT or even ISIS.
