Sudha Pandit | HENB | Pune | Feb 9, 2019:: Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS) chief Dhananjay Desai, an accused in the 2014 Mohsin Shaikh murder case, was Saturday released from the Yerawada Central Jail here, weeks after he was granted a conditional bail by the Bombay High Court.
The killed techie Shaikh (28), a software professional, was attacked and killed on June 2, 2014 allegedly by HRS members in Hadapsar area, when communal clashes had broken out after the circulation of objectionable pictures of Shivaji Maharaj and Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.
Desai has been in the jail since his arrest after the crime in June 2014.
Getting the news that their leader would come out jail after long 4 years, a large number of Desai’s supporters gathered outside the jail to receive him this afternoon.
Desai was among the 21 people who were arrested in the murder case. All of them, except Desai, were subsequently released on bail.
Seeking bail on parity, Desai had submitted an undertaking in the HC stating that he would stay away from the activities of the HRS, and would not presureise the witnesses in the case until the probe is over. He was granted bail on January 17 this year.
Desai’s lawyer Milind Pawar told PTI Saturday that the HRS chief walked out of the jail this afternoon, after completing the legal procedure related to the conditions imposed by the HC.
The previous congress Govt under CM Prithviraj Chavan played a nasty role to grill the Hindutvawadi leader Desai more critically implicating him various cases of extrusion and other crime along with the techie murder case. Unfortunately the present bail finally granted in favor of Desai really crucially even after more than 4 years hard struggle by his lawyers in the Raj (tenure) of present BJP CM Fadnavis.
The prominent Hindu interlocutor and Hindu Existence Website Editor, Upananda Brahmachari welcomed the Court order to release the Hindutva leader Desai and expressed his displeasure for the discriminatory Judaical system in India. “In India, Film stars get bail within 24 hrs, whether the case may be mowing down the footpath dwellers by BMW or killing the Black deer or plotting to kill co-stars. But, Hindutwavadis are kept in Jail for years under mere suspicion. This is very unfortunate.” Brahmachari told HENB from Haridwar.
Actually, Bombay High court granted bail to Dhananjay Desai on 17 January 2019 as per the report of Mumbai Mirror+. But it took 4 weeks another to come out from the jail.
As per available report Desai now wishes to visit ongoing Prayag Kumbh Mela to take a holy deep there and to get blessings of Hindu monks to proceed further for Hindutva activities in a new form other than HRS.
