Under Hindu pressure, BJP Govt withdraws from the controversial takeover of 51 Temples including Char Dham in Uttarakhand .

Freeing Char Dham

Facing the hard challenge of Hindutva lobby and Dr Swamy….

Uttarakhand’s CM Tirath Singh Rawat To Remove 51 Temples From State Control including Char Dham.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Haridwar | April 9, 2021:: Under the pressure of Hindu seers including teerth-purohits (shrine priests) and obviously under legal pressure created by none-other than BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy, finally, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat on Friday reversed his predecessor’s decision and decided to remove the management of 51 temples from the control of the Char Dham Devasthanam Board and reconsider its formation.

The CM’s announcement came on the sidelines of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal meeting held in Haridwar on Friday.

“I have decided to take out of the Devasthanam Board’s ambit 51 temples which had been brought under it,” Tirath Singh Rawat told reporters after a meeting with seers amid the ongoing Kumbh Mela here.

The government will also review the decision to form the Board in question, he added.

Set up during former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s term, the Devasthanam Board was assigned the management of 51 temples of the state, including the four famous Himalayan shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

The formation of the panel through legislation in December 2019 had not gone down well with the seers and “teerthpurohits” who felt their traditional rights over the temples had suffered because of it.

They had also complained that the state government had not taken them in confidence before taking such a major decision that affects them directly.

Despite repeated assurances by former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat that enough safeguards had been taken in the law bill to protect the rights of “teerthpurohits“, the priests in the state, including those in Uttarkashi, were agitated over the issue.

Some of them had even approached BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who later moved the Uttarakhand High Court+ challenging the government’s decision to take over the control of temples.

The Uttarakhand HC ratified the Govt decision for making Board to take over major Hindu temples including Char Dham. Challenging the decision of Uttarkhand High Court, Dr Swamy filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court of India+ to get justice for Hindus by nulling the irresponsible BJP Govt’s decision to take ove Hindu Temples under Govt Control.

Before facing the hard challenge of Dr Swamy out the filed SLP in Supreme Court, the present Tirath Singh Rawat Govt overturned Trivendra Singh Rawat’s decision, to removes state control over 51 Prominent Temples including Chhar Dham.

After the pronouncement of the decision, Dr Swamy instantly tweeted+, “So before I could argue the SLP I had filed on the Uttarakhand temple take-over issue the Government has withdrawn the Act and freed 51 temples. This is called responsive government in a democracy”.

Dr Swamy expresses his pleasure for the  Uttarakhand Govt’s decision to free the major temples in the state including Char Dham warning BJP not to take such anti-Hindu decision further.

Good news. The other BJP ruled states also should free the temples from the fold of state government control. Modi government also should put pressure on these state governments to do so immediately.

Why these governments are only interested in Hindu temples, why not churches and mosques ?
