WORLD HINDU YOUTH CONFERENCE HELD AT BALI.

World Hindu youth leaders gather in Bali to make a success of World Hindu Youth Conference.

World Youth Hindu Conference, BaliNi Komang Erviani |  The Jakarta Post | Denpasar | Archipelago | Sat, March 30 2013 :: Hundreds of Hindu youth leaders from 13 countries gathered on the predominantly Hindu island of Bali for a two-day (March 29-30) conference to discuss issues related to the future of the ancient religion.

“We are here to work together to see what we can learn from each other, from different countries, how we can work together across the globe. How we can share ideas, how we can share solutions,” the coordinator of the conference, Bhavin Davdra, said during the opening ceremony of the conference on Friday.

The conference was organized by Hindu Students and Youth Network with the theme of “Shaping the Next Generation of Leaders of the Hindu Resurgence”.

Among the participants are those from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India and Singapore.

The conference is expected to devise key strategies to prepare Hindu youths to achieve their goals and fulfill their responsibilities at local, national and global levels in a straightforward and effective manner. Such strategies would also enable Hindu youths across the globe to disseminate information on critical issues on a real-time basis.

The conference also aims at providing opportunities for young students, professionals and youth organizations to build effective networks, so that they can effectively coordinate with each other on strategies and information to advance their respective work.

“This conference will discuss several issues related to Hindus, such as the economy, politics, human rights as well as mass media,” organizing committee member Gde Dharma Nugraha said.

Nugraha, who serves as an executive with the Indonesia Hindu Students Association (KMHDI), explained that the conference was the first conference held based on an agreement made at an informal meeting of Hindu youth leaders in India in 2010.

Hindus belong to a minority group in Indonesia. Bali province is only 0.29 percent of Indonesia.

“Our population here is only 4 million, among 240 million Muslims in this country. So, we are a small minority group. However, Bali has been steadfastly faithful to Hinduism and its heritage. That’s why we have to be very proud of this, and we are very proud to host this conference here. I hope more and more Hindu world leaders will come to Bali to strengthen our commitment to being Hindu followers,” Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika said.

Thanks ! I read the very appreciated and praiseworthy News from Bali.WE Nepalese people are proud seeing the energetic activities of Hindus in Bali. Among all religions of the world, Hindu religion is considered as an ancient religion that is recognized as the foundation of civilization and as the most liberal democratic way of life. ‘Hindu culture and traditions have a long history spanning over a period of thousands and thousands of years and developed over several eras. They remain indispensable to the lives of Hindus and Hindu Temples today as sources of religious practices, spiritual inspiration, cultural expression, and social bonding. They bind all Hindus together irrespective of the regional and ethnic diversity. Hindu Temples have been built over so many centuries. All the Temples have their unique history as to how they were built, who built them, what kind of architectures were selected, how they selected the presiding deity, what kind of customs they have developed over the years to run the Temples, and what kind of festivals are performed. As a result, Temples often greatly vary in their appearance, rituals, traditions, festivals and customs from region to region. Temples in southern states, eastern states, northern states and Western India have their distinctive characteristics. These temples are very different from one state to the other. Diversity and imagination are the hallmark of Hindu mind.’

“Hindus have great logical meanings behind everything. If you deeply look into the performance of a Hindu devotee while bowing down to a deity, you will find out that his ritual of moving his hand upward to touch the head first and then touch the eyes and then heart, automatically, makes a cross and the Catholics have adopted this “Cross of Heart” ritual without knowing the depth.”

‘In Nepal, religion is not just a set of beliefs and accompanying rituals handed down from generation to generation; rather it is a complex intermingling of traditions, festivals, faiths and doctrines that have permeated every strata of Nepalese Society in such a way as to become the very heartbeat of the nation. Nepal is famous, as the world’s only Hindu Kingdom. However, it is an intricate and beautiful tapestry formed by the interweaving of Hinduism, Buddhism and other beliefs. Religious tolerance and harmony such as is found in Nepal, is perhaps a unique example to the world. Nepal and India lived life of unchallenged glory and power for thousands of years and spread its spiritual and cultural effulgence over vast areas of the globe-right. Never has its flag waded towards military victory through the blood and tears of those races as it happened with Islam and Christianity when they spread to new countries. Its victory had always been moral and cultural. It was a victory joyously welcomed by the local populace, a victory of selflessness, character and catholicity of spirit which, evoked gratitude instead of revolt from them. The Hindu thought did not stop at the negative aspect of restraining one religion from infringing upon another. The wide and all-comprehensive view of life ingrained in the Hindu ruler made him to respect and even encourage every single religious thought, however few its adherents, to grow according to its own genius. The king of Nepal had and has been becoming the symbol of support and protection to all faiths and creeds and never of negation of religion.

Hinduism is polytheistic. It incorporates many gods and goddesses with different functions and powers; but in the most important and widely held doctrine, the Vedanta (end of the Vedas), gods and goddesses are considered merely different manifestations or aspects of a single underlying divinity. This single divinity is expressed as a Hindu triad comprising the religion’s three major gods: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, personifying creation, preservation, and destruction, respectively. Vishnu and Shiva, or some of their numerous avatars (incarnations), are most widely followed.

Jai Sree Ram !!!! Indonesia, Thailand, Malaya peninsula, Burma, Sri Lanka – all were part of ancient Vedic Bharatvarsha . Even now the people of Muslim-majority Indonesia embrace Hindu culture . Garuda, the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, is the national emblem . Garuda Airlines is the national airline of Indonesia . Images of Ram, Krishna and Ganesh are printed on the currency notes . For some reason, the fanatic Wahhabi-style Islam has not been able to get much foothold in Indonesia .
