Amarnath yatra crosses 3-lakh mark. 

PTI | Shri Nagar | 21 July 2014:: The number of yatris paying obeisance at the 3,880-metre high holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday crossed the three-lakh mark.

Nearly 10,000 pilgrims performed darshan of the naturally-formed ice lingam at the holy cave till 5.00 p.m. on Monday, an official of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said.

He said this included 377 persons who performed the yatra by helicopter from Baltal and Pahalgam helipads.

More than 2.93 lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine since the commencement of annual pilgrimage from Baltal route on June 28, and from traditional Pahalgam route on July 2.

The number of pilgrims who died during the pilgrimage this year is 33, including one Sadhu, the official said.

Although the number of pilgrim deaths is much lower this year than 120 recorded in 2012, it has risen sharply from the 14 deaths that occurred during the last year’s yatra, he said.

[ As per data available  from the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board website,  the total pilgrimage has been recorded as 3, 11, 725 as on 22 July 2014. Our data base shows a highest record of 6.36 lakh pilgrims took part in the Yatra in 2011 and came down to 3.65 lakh in the last year. The year wise pilgrims took part in the yatra as recorded: 2002 – 1.10 lakh; 2003 – 1.70 lakh; 2004 – 4.10 lakh;  2005 – 3.88 lakh; 2006 – 3.47 lakh; 2007 – 2.96 lakh; 2008 – 5.33 lakh; 2009 – 3.81 lakh;  2010 – 4.55 lakh and 6.21 lakh in 2012 ~ Ed. Inputs suggest threat of terror attacks on Amarnath yatra 

PTI | New Delhi | 22 July 2014::  There are intelligence inputs which suggest threat of terrorist attacks on Amarnath pilgrims, Lok Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said there are intelligence inputs about the plan of terrorists to target Amarnath yatra and the same has been shared with security agencies at the Centre and state levels.

Rijiju said since the beginning of the yatra this year, the reports of some incidents of stone pelting on yatra vehicles from Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have been received.

In these incidents, injury to one pilgrim and damage to the windowpanes of three vehicles have been reported, he said adding the state government has been taking adequate measures to provide security to the Amarnath pilgrims.

[Jihadi threats to Bharat are nothing new. Time and gain they are humiliating terrorizing the majority populace in India. Now, Narendra Modi government warns of terror attack threat on Amarnath pilgrims. But, has the Govt. its right will force to crush all terrorists camps in J&K and in POK right now? 

Modi must wage a right war against the Islamic Terrorism that has been trying to destroy the Hindu majority in India, cutting off Kashmir from Bharat  and silently invading this country for a Muslim majority. A single stone pelting to Amarnath pilgrims or any attack on them should be the turning point of ‘Terror Free Kashmir’ and then whole of India. Enough is Enough. Pak generated and ISI operated terror in J&K is growing ceaselessly. Modi Govt. must not find any excuse like their predecessor Congress. 

The spell of big talks must be reinforced into practical initiative to teach a hard lesson to any obstinate and ill motivated neighbour for the protection of countrymen, keeping aside all bogus drama or hobnobbing.  ~ Ed. HE].
