HENB |  New Delhi | April 13, 2015::  The fire brand Hindu leader and  BJP’s Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj on Sunday evening supported the Shiv Sena’s view on revocation of Muslims’ voting rights, stating appeasement politics should end. His ‘saffron statement’ pitched another controversy in the secular media once again.

On the sidelines of a function​ in the Unnao, Maharaj said, “When Hindus go for sterilisation, Muslims should also opt for it. There should be one law for everyone. There will be no appeasement of any section in our regime.” The MP of Unnao was advocating for a common civil code in India including Muslims with and all others. 

Further taking jibe at his previous remarks, he said, “Hum chaar bache ki baat keh de toh aag lag jaati hai, par chaar biwi aur chaalis bache se kahin aag nahi lagti (Even if we talk of four kids, controversy erupts, but there is no controversy on having four wives or forty children.) You cannot discriminate between women of different communities.”

“There should be family planning. When the country gained independence, the population was only 30 crore. Today it is 130 crore. Who is responsible for it?…There should be one law for everyone be it Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians. Whether for one, two, three or four kids… Unless we have a common law for everyone, the country will not benefit…So both the government and the opposition should come together to bring a strict law and those who do not follow it should be stripped of their voting right,” the 59-year-old MP from Unnao said.

“The politics of appeasement will not work now in the country. Girls of particular community are given scholarships, while temples of the Hindus are being taxed,” Maharaj said in a Unnao function.

 He also supported Sadhvi Deva Thakur’s comment that Muslims and Christians should be sterilised.

A Christian New Agency, Agenzia Fides, reports: “The population of Muslims and Christians is growing day by day. To rein in this, Centre will have to impose emergency, and Muslims and Christians will have to be forced to undergo sterilisation so that they cannot increase their number”, says vice president of “All India Hindu Mahasabha”, Sadhvi Deva Thakur. The leader exhorted “Hindus to have more children and increase their population”. Moreover, she continued, “idols of Hindu gods and goddesses should be placed in mosques and churches”.

Sakshi Maharaj’s comments came a day after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut stoked a controversy through his article in party’s mouthpiece, Saamana, demanding revocation of Muslims’ voting right.

Voting rights of Muslims should be revoked to stop vote-bank politics, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has said in an article slamming AIMIM leaders Asaduddin and Akbaruddin Owaisi for polarising the community.

“Balasaheb had once said to withdraw Muslims voting rights. Owaisi brothers are doing politics of Muslim votes. They are threat to the nation,” wrote Raut. Raout is also the chief editor of Saamana.

India is facing a demographic change and the matter is treated as a high concern for the right wing Hindu organisation India after coming a report that, by 2050, India to have the world’s largest Muslim population.
