Adilabad saw Hindu Retaliation against ‘No Bharat Mata ki Jai’ remarks by Asaduddin Owaisi.

HENB | Adilabad | March 20, 2016:: Huge tension prevailed at Bhainsa, a communally-sensitive town in the district, after VHP and Hindu Vahini activists pelting stones at the vehicle carrying AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday protesting his remarks against chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan. However, there was no damage to the vehicle escaped as the stones missed the vehicle. Shops and establishments remained closed and the town wore a deserted look.

Asaduddin Owaisi was in Bhainsa to inaugurate a jewellery shop. On information, VHP activists took out a rally protesting his reported refusal to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

The VHP activists also attempted to burn an effigy of Asaduddin in front of the RTC bus station. As police foiled the attempt, the activists staged a rasta roko and planned to stop Asad’s vehicle.

Anticipating their plans, the police shifted the protesters to the tahsildhar’s office compound and locked them in. But more than 100 VHP activists gathered outside the office and pelted stones at Asad’s vehicle. Enraged by this, MIM activists pelted stones at VHP men.

Meanwhile, the police provided escort to Mr. Owaisi who inaugurated the shop half an hour before the scheduled time and left for Hyderabad. Bhainsa DSP Ande Ramulu and Nirmal DSP T. Manohar Reddy supervised the operation which included placing of pickets and preventive custody of a handful of protesters. Asaduddin later inaugurated the jewellery shop at around 2.30 pm, ahead of the scheduled time, and left for Hyderabad via Nirmal town.

Meanwhile, MIM activists attempted to take out a bike rally in the evening. But the police cane-charged and dispersed them. Bhainsa DSP A Ramulu and Nirmal DSP T Manohar Reddy are camping at the spot to avoid untoward incidents.

Speaking to media, Superintendent of police Dr Tarun Joshi said cases were filed against both parties and three quick reaction teams (QRT) were deployed besides bringing additional forces from Nirmal and Nizamabad.

A total of five persons including two policemen, two locals and a media person sustained minor injuries in the incident. They were provided first-aid at hospital and discharged.
