Three Rohingya Muslims  arrested for killing Buddhist monk in Bangladesh.

HENB | Bandarban | May 15, 2016:: Bangladesh Law enforcement agencies have picked up three Rohingya Muslims for the Buddhist monk murder at Naikkhangchhari sub-districtin of south-eastern Bangladeshi district of Bandarban, police said on Sunday.

Police picked up Hlamong Chak, 32, Zia Uddin, 28, and Rahim, 29, from Baishari union on Saturday night, a day after the monk was slaughtered near a Buddhist temple in the remote hilly village.

Officer at Naikkhangchhari police station Abul Khayer told the media that the motive behind the monk’s killing could not be ascertained yet.

The 75-year old monk, Bhante Maung Shue U Chak was slaughtered by unidentified assailants on Friday night.

Buddhist accounts for nearly 0.7 per cent of Bangladesh’s 160 million populations, more than 90 per cent of whom are Muslim. Only 8 per cent Hindus live in B’desh today as the latest census tells. The status of minorities and the liberals in B’desh has been flawed due to various violation of human rights and constitutional charters.

Similar attacks on secularist bloggers, publisher, university professors, Hindu minorities and rights activists were carried out in Bangladesh by suspected Islamists in the last couple of years.

No Islamist organisation has claimed responsibility of the latest killing of Buddhist monk in B’desh.

It is believed that the the Rohingya settlers from Myanmar in Bangladesh have organised some extremist outfits to attack B’desh Buddhists to take a revenge for Rakhine State riots in 2012.
