IJS to launch centres to promote Jagannath culture worldwide.

ENS | Bhubaneshwar | Jan 4, 2017:: The International Jagannath Society (IJS) of USA has decided to launch centres for promotion of Jagannath culture in all major countries across the world by the end of this year. While the society has already operationalised its India Headquarters at Puri since 2014, IJS will have Vedanta Research Centres, Veda Pathasala and International Visitors’ Centre shortly, president of IJS, USA Dr Bhagabat Sahoo said.

Addressing a seminar on Sri Jagannath Consciousness here on Tuesday, Dr Sahoo said IJS intends to promote the philosophy (Tattva) of Lord Jagannath which includes international fraternity and amity. ‘’Sri Jagannath Tattva should assimilate all beliefs.

He is the Lord of the universe, infinite and absolute,’’ he said. Conceptualised about a decade back, the society was formally inaugurated in July, 2011. The first Jagannath temple built by the IJS is located at Huntsville in Alabama State of the USA.

The temple is called Sarvajan Mandir, Pratichi Srikhetra, Dr Rath informed. The society launched a souvenir on the occasion. Among others, former DG Police Arun Kumar Upadhyay, former vice-chancellor of Sanskrit University, Tirupati Prof Harekrushna Satpathy and Jagannath culture researcher Dr Krushna Keshab Sarangi also spoke.
