Champak Patel | HENB | Ahamadabad | Jan 20, 2018::  Days after VHP chief Dr Pravin Togadia alleged that heinous attempts are being hatched to suppress his voice, a senior VHP leader from Gujarat on Saturday accused the “police department” of targeting VHP and Bajrang Dal activists in “manufactured cases”.

In an open letter released by VHP office-bearers, Ashwin Patel, secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s north Gujarat unit, claimed that “after jailing and killing Hindus in 2002, then harassing, jailing and torturing VHP, Bajrang Dal karyakartas (workers) and many Hindus for years, then targeting Dr Pravin Togadia and other workers as well as other Hindus in manufactured forced cases…”. He did not name any government.

It is told unofficially to HENB that the culpable RSS and BJP tie up in the state are ready to make Gujarat VHP inactive in order to gag all voices against the anti-Hindu menaces made by  the BJP govt in the sate and the central level.

“Police has been instructed to arrest all VHP activists if they run any protest against any Govt malfunctioning or anti Hindu move. As the RSS and BJP controllers in Ahmadabad are in a mood to promote only Modi, Rupani and Mohan Bhagwat, taking the name of Togadia has been added in the criminal code,” told a VHP karyakarta in Ahmadabad, who repeatedly requested not to flash his name in the media.

The North Gujarat VHP unit alleged that now the film Padmaavat is being used to target VHP workers and other Hindutva activists. Without specifying any administration, he wrote that the government “orders” the police department to “keep watch on VHP, Bajrang Dal karyakartas…the department has made its dangerous anti-Hindu intentions clearly once again”.

The letter also claims that during festivals only Hindus are kept under surveillance. It states that only Hindus activists’ house are searched in the name of preventive arrests. It warns that the VHP will “take up democratic protests against such vicious anti-Hindu orders…”

Confirming that prominent Gujarat VHP leader Ashwin Patel had written the letter, state VHP spokesperson Jay Shah said, “It is very clear from the letter that we are being targeted by the police on the instructions of the state government.”

Shah says that VHP has been trying to unite the Hindus and focusing on Hindu demands like construction of Ayodhya Ram Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple in its actual places including enactment of central law to ban cow slaughter, conversion and infiltration. VHP is always vocal to abolish Art. 370 and introduce uniform civil code in the country. As the BJP Govt in the center is undermining these important issues, the majority people are very dissatisfied with Modi Govt. “Dr. Pravin Togadia is the voice of the people for Hindu demands in this country. Any move to gag his voice or drive out Togadia from VHP may be fatal for the Sangha Parivar’s power politics,” Jay Shah added.

Meanwhile, VHP international general secretary Champat Rai and Sri Ram Sene founder Pramod Muthalik on Saturday met VHP leader Pravin Togadia at the organisation’s headquarters in Ahmedabad. Sources in VHP said the two leaders asked Togadia about his health, and discussed events leading to his alleged “lost and found” incident.

Sources said Dr Surendra Jain, international joint secretary of VHP, is expected to meet Togadia on Sunday.
