Puja Pandey | HENB  | Kolkata | Sept 2, 2018:: The VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) on Sunday took out close to 1,000 rallies across West Bengal including 10 big processions in the city as part of its elaborate Janmashtami celebrations, the annual Hindu festival marking the birth of Lord Krishna, according to a leader of the right wing organisation.

VHP takes this celebration much important as the organisation observes its foundation day on Janmashtami as it was established  on 29th August 1964, on the auspicious day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami.

“The celebration is being held on a much larger scale to turn the occasion into a social festival,” media in-charge of VHP’s state unit Sourish Mukherjee told HENB.

“Ten major rallies were taken out from different parts of Kolkata, while Krishna puja (worship) was held at 70 places in the city.”A good number of state BJP leaders also took part in the rallies held in different parts of West Bengal.

State BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu said some of the party leaders participated in the rallies on VHP’s invitation.”The BJP has no role in organising the rallies. They took part in the rallies as per invitation,” he said.

There is no law and order issues so far reported in relation of VHP’s celebration of Shri Krishna Janmashtami so far. But, the ruling Party in the state, TMC tried to create a panic about the Janmashtami Celebration in an unprecedented scale in WB.

A grand Janmashtami rally was taken out in Shyambazar area by Shri Krishna Janmashtami Udjapan Samiti where many children were dressed as Krishna.

All the Krishna temples in the state, especially under the management of Goudiya Vaishnava sects, are beautifully decorated and  worship and namasankirtan (lyrical chanting of Lord Shri Krishna’s holy name) are being held there in a grand manner.

Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS) is also observing two day’s Hindu Dharma Siksha Sanskriti Sammelan (educational and cultural conference) in its Head Quarter at Ballygunge, Kolkata and celebrating Janmashtami festival in its different branches through out the state.

Like Ramnavmi, Krishna Janmashtami is also shaping as another programme to unite the Hindus in West Bengal to fight against various anti-Hindu agenda undertaken by the various political and social organisations so far.
