For ‘objectionable’ comment on Lord Krishna, Hindu youths attacked college professor in WB.

College professor thrashed by Hindu youths in Mandirbazar (WB) for derogatory comments on Facebook on Lord Krishna; Media hinted RSS workers behind the incident.

Swati Das | HENB | Kolkata | Sept 26, 2022:: For allegedly passing derogatory comments on Facebook about Lord Krishna, a college professor was attacked by some Hindu youths. Some media (Zee 24 Ghanta) hinted the attackers as the RSS workers. The incident happened in Mandir Bazar of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. According to local sources, a two-day literary fair  was organized with poets and writers in a school of Ramnathpur village under Mandirbazar Assembly. Assistant Professor Sudhakar Sardar of the B. Ed. Dept of Jagadish Chandra Bose College, Kolkata was present there as a special guest and was attacked after valedictory session of the programme on Sunday. A section of local people was grossly displeased for the hate speech against Hindus continuously delivered in the function.

Reportedly, a group of youth suddenly attacked Prof Sudhakar Sardar at the end of the event. He was taken from the stage of the event and beaten severely. Allegedly, the incident started quite some time ago. The professor exhorted on Ambedkar’s ideology and thought to eliminate prejudice among people for improvement of the quality of life of the Dalit community. Then on Janmashtami Professor Sudharkar Sardar made some ‘objectionable’ comment on Facebook about Sri Krishna. Allegedly, since then the RSS workers started beating him up and threatening him with dire consequences.

It is reported that Prof Sardar was hit the back of his head with some heavy object. He was taken to Diamond Harbor Super Specialty Hospital with injuries. He is released on Monday from there after treatment. A complaint was filed at Mandirbazar police station in the incident. Poets and writers demanded the arrest of the culprits. Mandirbazar police arrested 3 youths based on the complaint but they also got bail from a local court at Diamond Harbour on Monday.

From local sources it is divulged that three youths named Kaushik Purkait, Mangal Ghoroi and Shashadhar Halder arrested so far by police and got bail afterwards from court; were not connected with RSS anyway. But, the same source did not deny their connection with some fringe Hindutva groups for a reasonable time.
