SBI Govandi Branch returns to Sunday as weekly off instead of ‘Friday Off’ after Hindu Protest.

But, under whose instructions this Sharia initiative was taken so far? A probe must be initiated. 

After strong Hindu protest, SBI Govandi Branch returns to Sunday as weekly off instead of declared ‘Friday Off’ as earlier.

Arvind Narayan Pansare | HENB | Mumbai | Dec 1, 2022:: In an utter Sharia inclined decision creating an utmost surprise, the State Bank of India’s Govandi Branch (under Mumbai Metro Circle) decided to change the weekly off as Friday instead of Sunday for their employees from December 1. Announcing the eyebrow raising news, the bank put up a notice in a big banner outside the branch’s premises on previous week and the move is purportedly intended to facilitate the local minority Muslim population living in and around Govandi, a north-eastern Mumbai suburb. Seeing the notice to open the branch on Sunday, there was sharp reactions from the employees of the branch as reported. 

Side by side, the many Hindu organisations led by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti met the Govandi Branch Manager of SBI and asked the reasons for this culpable change to satisfy a certain community when the constitution of the country believes in Secularism. Moreover, the Hindu organisations threatened to protest on road if the ‘Friday Off’ is not changed immediately. 

As a result, the SBI authority returns to Sunday as weekly off again instead of declared ‘Friday Off’ as earlier.

Taking the twitter handle, the CGM (Mumbai Metro Circle), SBI informed the latest position as, “In view of the public sentiment and their convenience, we have decided to maintain the status quo in respect of ‘weekly off’ of the few branches including Govandi Branch. The ‘weekly off’ will continue to be on Sunday / Monday, as usual.”

But, the Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh organizer of HJS, Sunil Ghanwat demanded a probe on how and who took such Islamic decision of Friday Off in SBI undermining the secular structure of Indian constitution.
