Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy toes Hindutva line, vows Ram temples in 100 constituencies.

Sribala Vdlapatla | TNN | Hyderabad | Feb 15, 2023:: Taking a leaf out of BJP’s Hindutva agenda, Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said that if his party wins power, it will consider building Ram temples in each of the state’s 100 assembly segments at a cost of 10 crore each.

During his Haath Se Haath Jodo yatra in Bhadrachalam where the famed Sita Rama temple is located, Revanth said: “In Bhadrachalam, Ram temple was built. Our party leaders told me that there should be Ram temple in each of the 100 assembly segments across the state. We will certainly consider this great idea because it will be beneficial to the youth. We will consider spending 1,000 crore on this initiative”.

This is the first time a Congress leader has spoken openly on temple agenda in recent past in the state which is heading to assembly elections in later part of the year. The remarks assume significance as Revanth’s opponent, BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay is known to stir up controversies with his rhetoric on masjids, temples and Hindus’ sentiments.

While promising to build Ram temples, Revanth, however, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of dividing society along religious lines. “They divided the society and our leader Sonia Gandhi tried to build it,” he said.The Malkajgiri MP came down heavily on BJP, saying: “They think that they are forming the government. It’s like a bald person getting hair on his head. They make fun of Congress, but we will show the power of Congress in the elections.”

CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and senior leader VH Hanumanth Rao on Tuesday joined Revanth’s padayatra for the first time in Bhadrachalam.
