Assam: 15 educated Muslim girls embraced Hindutva and married Hindu men; 100 Christians returned to Sanatan Hindu Dharma

Chandra Deb Goswami said that Religious liberality and freedom had attracted young Muslim women to Hinduism. Many young women have left Islam and converted to Hinduism and married Hindu youths.

Satradhikar of Jakhalabandha Satra Yugal Chandra Deb Goswami shared the information in a press conference held in Nagaon on May 18.

Chandra Deb Goswami said that Religious liberality and freedom had attracted young Muslim women to Hinduism. Many young women have left Islam and converted to Hinduism and married Hindu youths. Satradhikar mentioned that as many as 15 educated Muslim girls married Hindu men under his supervision and embraced the Sanatan religion. As of now, a few more educated Muslim girls, including a High Court advocate, are in touch with him to convert to Hinduism and marry a Hindu man. He said for social reasons he is not willing to disclose their new identities.

According to Satradhikar, the seven types of security in Hinduism have attracted highly educated young women of the Muslim community to this religion. He explains- In Islam, girls have no value in the law of inheritance. The practice of divorce slowly turns Muslim girls into street beggars. They cannot live peacefully because of the practice of polygamy in Muslim society. The pressure to produce large numbers of children destroys the life of Muslim girls. Many young Muslim women do not tolerate wearing the burqa. Moreover, they do not get religious freedom, and the generosity of Hinduism is one of the reasons why they are attracted.

On the other hand, 100 members of 16 Christian families have returned to Hinduism in the Morigaon district. Those people who were deceived by Christianity have now returned to their faith of origin on May 18 in a function held in Jagiroad. These people lived in remote hill areas of the Morigaon-Karbi Anglong border and were converted to Christianity by missionaries by luring them with good health facilities and education for their children. But after converting to Christianity many years ago, these tribal people were dumped by the Christian religious leaders.

 Amal Amre, one of the persons who returned to Hinduism, said they were given one bundle of aluminium sheets and some warm clothes at the time of conversion. After that, no missionaries were seen in their village. They come at the time of Christmas and pressurise the villagers to bring more people to Christianity, he added. After years of suffering, the 16 families have finally decided to return to their faith of origin.
