Baseball player Sanjana ends her life under the threat of conversion from her Muslim friend.

Forced conversion angle in national-level baseball player Sanjana Barkade’s suicide: Mother said- daughter’s Muslim friend threatened on phone to convert or to kill; Father said- befriended by calling himself a Hindu. 

Akash Nishad | HENB | Jabalpur | June 10, 2023:: Baseball national level player Sanjana Barkade was being pressurized by her friend Abdul Mansuri alias Rajan Khan to convert her under heavy pressure. Before Sanjana’s suicide, Rajan threatened her mother by calling her from an unknown number. In a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Sanjana’s mother Geetabai Barkade told that 9 days before the daughter’s suicide, the accused called her and said to make the girl understand to be converted to Islam. Abdul Mansuri alias Rajan also threatened to kill her family if she did not accept Islam.

Father Harnam Barkade alleges that Abdul Mansuri had befriended the daughter by hiding his religion taking a Hindu name as Rajan. Three months ago, when the daughter came to know the truth, she broke off the friendship.

On these allegations of the parents, the police say that a relationship and talks were going on between Sanjana and Rajan for a year. The police are trying to divulge all the points connected with the suicide. On the basis of complaints from the deceased’s family and friends, FIR has been registered and the accused has been arrested. Now, the accused is being strictly interrogated.

Sanjana’s body was found on the morning of June 5 on a noose made of a fan in her room. Her parents had gone to Harrai (Seoni) for a wedding ceremony upon invitation. When they returned, their daughter was found hanging. The family is originally from the Seoni district. Lives in a rented house in Jabalpur city. Sanjana was a student of BA second year in Mankunwar Bai College of the city besides persuading her baseball carrier as well.

The accused said on the phone – I want to marry your daughter

Sanjana’s mother Geeta Bai says, the accused called the daughter and said – well, get me to talk to mother…. My daughter gave me the phone. The accused asked- Who, you are the mother of the girl. It’s good to have talked to you. I wanted to talk to you only. You explain to the girl child. Accept our religion of Islam. I want to marry her. If you do not accept our religion, then we have understood where your family is, and where you live. We’ll kill all If she doesn’t accept our religion. And if she accepts, nothing will happen. After this, the boy disconnected the phone. I also asked the girl who was this, do you recognize him? The girl said – No. After that, she switched off the phone.

He even stole my daughter’s medal

Father Harnam Barkade told that Sanjana came to know three months ago that the Rajan was actually Abdul Mansoori. My daughter had stopped talking to Rajan. Angered by this, the accused stole the daughter’s documents, and medals and started pressurizing her. Sanjana won several medals in the national level baseball competition, which Rajan stole. When she asked him to return the medal, he used to say that obey him. He put pressure on the girl in every way.

Harnam says, Abdul Mansoori alias Rajan’s target was fixed. He wanted to convert my daughter. As Jabalpur police nabbed the accused soon, I have at least some peace. The police should directly encounter the accused. If this is not happening, then he should be hanged directly. If this does not happen, then bring it before me, I will punish the culprit.

Abdul Mansoori came to Jabalpur thrice to meet Sanjana

From Sanjeevani Nagar police station source, it was told that Abdul Mansoori alias Rajan Khan has been arrested in the Sanjana suicide case. In the initial inquiry, it is revealed that the youth has told himself to be a student of class 11th in a school in Rewa. He has also confessed to coming to Jabalpur thrice to meet Sanjana. Sanjana had started keeping her distance from Rajan for the last few days. Probably she was doing this in order not to continue her friendship with him further. Angered by this, Rajan was pressurizing Sanjana to continue the relationship by threatening to make her photos and videos viral.

ASP said, the alleged pressure of conversion not been confirmed yet

Additional SP Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal told that the friendship of both Sanjana and Abdul Mansur alias Rajan happened on Instagram. They had a normal friendship for a year. Police are trying to gather all the conversation between the two. Nothing like religious conversion came to the fore, yet. But, the Police are investing the matter seriously from many angles. Recently the relationship between them became conflicting. This is a matter of investigation. Police have sent the girl’s mobile to cyber forensics. If any video or photo, which were deleted, will be retrieved. Police have filed a case under serious sections considering the statement of the parents and the girl’s friends as true. That is why the accused is in jail, not on bail. Police have worked seriously. Jabalpur police are in contact with the girl’s family since day one. It is also from the first recording to the last recording. The girl’s mother was contacted many times. The matter of conversion to Islam has come later.

The accused started blackmailing with the Photos and videos of Sanjana

Sanjana was fed up with the threats from her friend Abdul Manusr alias Rajan Khan. Her father alleges that Rajan had stocked the photos and videos of Sanjana. Dainik Bhaskar’s investigation has also revealed that a few days before Sanjana’s suicide, Rajan Khan had uploaded a private story on his Insta account with the tag ‘close friend’. There was a rift between the two on this matter. Sanjana’s friends also told that these days Sanjana was nervous because of the ruckus on love jihad. She was also afraid of his father’s scolding. She had ended the relationship with Rajan, but he was not giving up on her.
