BJP’s Hindutva push before upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Election. 

Balaknath Yogi as State Vice-President in the new State Committee to find another Yogi Adityanath in Rajasthan. 

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Jaipur | July 3, 2023:: According to an official statement, the BJP National President, JP Nadda,  announced a list of 29 office bearers including 11 State Vice Presidents, 5 State General Secretaries, 11 State Ministers, a treasurer, and a co-treasurer. The announcement was made on July 1st.

The announcement comes three months after CP Joshi took over as the state BJP president.

According to the statement, Balaknath Yogi, Sukbir Jaunapuria, CR Chaudhary, Narayan Panchariya, Sardar Ajapypal, Mukesh Dadhich, Santosh Ahlawat, Chunnilal Garasiya, Prabhu Lal Saini, Jitendra Gothwal, Shravan Singh Bagri were declared as the State Vice Presidents.

The statement stated that Bhajan Lal Sharma, Diya Kumari, Jagveer Chaba, Damodar Aggarwal, and Motilal Meena were announced as the State General Secretaries.

Additionally, Vijendra Punia, Priyanka Meghwal Balan, Vasudev Chawla, Bhanu Pratap Singh, Neelam Gurjar, Mahendra Kumavat, Heeralal Nagar, Sanwalaram Dewasi, Anantram Vishnoi, Krishna Katara, Pinkesh Porwal were declared as the State Secretaries.

The statement said that Pankaj Gupta was announced as the treasurer while Shyam Aggarwal was declared as the co-treasurer.

Interestingly enough, to manage the situation to win over Congress Govt in  Rajasthan led by CM Ashok Gehlot, BJP took the decision to go high on Hindutva and projected Yogi Balaknath as another Yog Adityanath in the state.

The highlight of the list is obviously the name of Baba Balak Nath Yogi who is a one-time MP from Alwar. He has been appointed as a state vice president of the party.

Yogi Balak Nath defeated Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, a Congress stalwart in Alwar, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the BJP leader has consistently attacked the Congress over issues such as the demolition of a temple in Alwar by local authorities and even compared the grand old party to the Mughals.

The rise of Balak Nath, who is from the OBC Yadav community, has been a concern for the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state.

Balak Nath, who always dons saffron clothes and is mahant of Nath community’s Mastnath math, is often called “Yogi of Rajasthan”, a reference to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, because of his Hindutva stance.

This Mastnath math is located in Rohtak and is considered second to Gorakhnath math of Gorakhpur in Nath traditions.

Being just 38 years old, Balaknath is a rising star in the state BJP unit and his electoral debut was marked by a victory margin of more than 3 lakh votes. Since then, he has been quite active in public life.

Now, it is to see whether the ‘Seasonal Hindutva’ of BJP gives a good result in Rajasthan. Remembering Lord Hanuman before voting and the recital of Hanuman Chalisa even in the voter’s queue did not give any good results for BJP in Karnataka. It is not known, how Yogi Balaknath will ensure BJP’s victory in the upcoming Assembly election in Rajasthan.

Such seasonal Hindutva or Hindutva at the time of election does not work properly. Better, BJP  must involve itself in Hindu regimentation without doing Hindutva Drama!
