28 Christian people came back to Hinduism in Bastar.

Before the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the issue of religious conversion created controversy. Recently, some Christian families in Bastar have adopted Hinduism. They became Christians a few years ago after being seduced. These people have also now vowed never to leave their religion.

 Mahendranath Bhargava | HENB | Bastar | July 17, 2023:: In Chhattisgarh’s Bastar, amidst the rapid conversion to Christianity, some people of the tribal tribe returned to their original faith on Sunday. In Gram Panchayat Parapur of Bastar district, 28 people from 7 families converted to Hinduism. The villagers adopted the Hindu religion with full rituals in the presence of tribal community heads and village Patels, priests, and others. A few years back these families had adopted Christianity being lured by the fathers with many fake promises. After the persuasion of the tribal society and village heads, these families reverted to Hinduism condemning the conspiracy of the Christain fathers and their agents.

Apart from Parapur Gram Panchayat, the villagers of Dogipara and Banipara of Kuthar Gram Panchayat have also returned to Hinduism. A total of 28 people from 7 families came back to Hinduism as their original faith. During this, the villagers took a pledge to follow the tribal culture while returning. On this occasion, the head of the village, Patel, Kotwar priest, Naik Paik, Sarpanch, and villagers were present.

Earlier 6 people returned

A few days back, 6 people returned to Hinduism in Parapur of Laundiguda block. These people had left their religion and adopted Christianity a few years back. Now they have returned to their original Hindu faith. The villagers of the village have got them back to their original religion with full Hindu rituals and worship. The people who returned to Hinduism gave a resolution and said never to leave their religion.

BJP vocal on this issue

Before the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the issue of religious conversion created a row. The opposition party BJP is vocal about this issue and is constantly trying to bring such tribal people back to Hinduism in the state. Earlier, BJP’s State General Secretary Kedar Kashyap had alleged that under the patronage of Congress, tribals are adopting Christianity leaving their original religion. BJP is trying its best that all the original tribals of Bastar should return to their religion.
