A man vandalized a Hindu temple and desecrated idols of Hindu deities in Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria. The accused was identified as Khalil Mia. 

Dipti Das | HENB | Dhaka | July 22, 2023:: A 36-year-old Muslim man vandalized the idols of deities at a Hindu temple in Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria district. The incident took place on Thursday night, causing an uproar among the local Hindu community at a large scale.

The incident occurred  at the Niamat Pur Durga temple, located in Niamatpur village. The accused has been identified as Muhammad Khalil Mia.

As the news of the vandalism spread, the locals quickly intervened into the  matters and helped with the police to nab the accused in very short span of time.

Brahmanbaria Police Superintendent, Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain, confirmed Khalil Mia’s arrest but stated that the motive behind his act remains undisclosed. It is yet to be determined why he resorted to such a deplorable act.

According to Jagdish Das, the President of Niamatpur Sarvajanin Durga Temple, the sudden act of vandalism sparked anger and discontent among the members of the local Hindu community.

Investigations have revealed that Khalil Mia had come to visit his sister’s house in Niamatpur village when the unfortunate incident occurred. A quarrel with some local residents apparently escalated, leading him to vandalise not just one, but five to six idols within the Durga temple.

Jagdish Das filed a case under the Hurting Religious Sentiments and Speedy Trial Act. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation, ensuring that appropriate legal actions will be taken against the accused.

In February 2023, Fourteen Temples were vandalized in Thakurgaon district of  north-western side of Bangladesh, idols of Hindu gods were broken in a fresh wave of hate attack by the Islamists.

Minority Hindus are subjected to Islamic persecution by the Jihadi people in Islamic Bangladesh as a routine work to snatch their human rights through various means in order to frighten them for leaving from country.  Hindu Temples, Hindu properties and business are vandalized, their women and girls are victimized, Hindus are killed and brutalized in this row without any proper intervention of the Bangladesh Government under the pressure of the Islamist bobbies in the country.

In a social media video it was revealed how a fundamental Muslim youth destroyed a Durga idol in a place of Hindu worship at Joypara in Dohar sub-district of Dhaka with an iron rod in broad daylight. on June 22, 2023.

As per Bangladesh youtuber, Asad Noor, the boy identified as  Siddique (s/o Abdur Rahaman), who was caught later by some local people and handed over to police. But, no action so far reported to punish the culprit, so far.
