WB: Desecration of National Flag at Banshberia after Itinda. Communal tension in Hooghly. Hindus fear major attack after Friday Namaj.

Gross Humiliation of National Flag in Hooghly’s Banshberia on Independence Day. What’s going on at Banshberia for last two days? Communal situation erupted. Nobody cares….. 

Hindus of Banshberia and adjacent areas are apprehending a bigger Islamic attack upon them after Friday Namaz on 18.08.2023 and they have appealed to all concerned to save them from Jihadi mayhem.

Shyamanjana Sur | HENB | Hooghly (WB) | Aug 17, 2023:: After the Pride of the Nation, Indian Tricolour was desecrated at Itinda in Basirhat (North 24 Parganas-WB);  Banshberia in Hoogly has been made a new cauldron of the communal clash after Indian Tricolour was grossly humiliated and torn down in the Independence celebration of Ganges High School there, as reported.

The same Muslim people of fanatic mentality disrespected the Tricolour in Banshberia like Itinda, but the flare-up in Banshberia could not be controlled yet as the Muslim community has been continuously attacking Hindus in the locality for last two days. The internet services were disrupted in the surroundings and a heavy contingent of the police force has been deployed there, as reports came in.

Though the mainstream media is not covering the news of Banshberia under the pressure of State Departments, various social media leaks narrate the helpless situation of the unfortunate Hindus under Islamic attacks and they fear a virulent attack on Friday (18.08.2023) Namaz as ‘Muslims are preparing for another Jihad against Kaffir Hindus!’

The Banshberia incident started when local Panchayat Member, Firoz Khan provoked the desecration of the National Flag in Ganges High School on 15^th August and led to an attack upon the Hindus when they protested the disrespect of Tri Colour in a group.

Local people say that Firoz Khan had a rift with the school management as the Head Master of the Banshberia Ganges High School (Co-Educational) took a strict position to obey the school uniform without violating it by wearing Hijab some girl students. There was a row on this some months back. Now, Firoz Khan took revenge for that incident by humiliating National Flag in the independence day celebration.

On 16^th Aug, when the local Hindu women went to the Mill outpost to place a demand to free the Hindu boys unreasonably arrested by Mogra Police authority, The violent Muslim mob again attacked the Hindu women in the presence of Police where many were injured including police on duty.

The Muslim mob attacked the Hindus with sticks, rods, swords and stones of rail lines as reported. The condition of two Hindus is told serious and another 10-12 persons were injured from moderate to major level. Looting and arson in Hindu houses have also been reported. Local Hindus alleged that 10-12 country-made bombs were hurled at them from the Muslim side.

Hoogly MP and senior BJP leader Locket Chatterjee gave a deputation to the Mogra Police Station to maintain peace in the locality with a demand to arrest all perpetrators connected with the desecration of the National Flag and causing communal violence.

Chatterjee also sent letters to the Governor of WB, CV Ananda Bose and State Chief Secretary H K Dwivedi seeking their interference to calm down the situation in Banshberia created due to the humiliation of the National Flag on Independence Day.

The Leader of opposition in WB and veteran BJP leader, Suvendu Adhikary also raised the issue of Banshberia and sent letters to the Office of Union Home Ministry and WB Governor CV Ananda Bose as “WB Police & the State Govt have failed miserably to reign in the Law & Order situation in the riot-hit areas of Bansberia; Kalbajar under Mogra Police Station; Hoogly district, where the National Flag was desecrated by perpetrators belonging to one community”.

Adhikari tweeted, “So, I have written a letter to the Hon’ble Governor; Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose; for urgent deployment of CAPF to control the deteriorating Law & Order situation, which is getting worse with every passing hour. The tension in Bansberia has snowballed into a major conflict with violent attacks and arson happening incessantly.“

Though a section of media in Bengal described the matter of desecration of the National Flag as a rumour, they did not deny the heavy clash between two communities in Banshberia.

The area of disturbance is now cordoned by the police and no outsiders are allowed to enter the locality without verification. The Press cars are also restricted to enter the locality, as reports came in last.
