Police said that the accused held a protest against ‘an illegal Islamic construction near a temple’ outside the city’s municipal corporation headquarters without permission. 

Upendra Bharti | HENB  | Pune | Sept 26, 2023:: On Monday, the Pune Police booked Milind Ekbote, president of Hindutva body Samasta Hindu Aghadi, and three others for allegedly making provocative speeches at an agitation in Maharashtra’s Pune, reported PTI.

On September 4, some Hindutva organizations and some BJP members held a protest outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters in the city and sought the removal of an unauthorized structure near a temple.

According to Shivajinagar police station officials, the organizers had not taken prior permission from authorities for the protest. During the agitation outside the PMC main gate, Ekbote and three others – Kunal Kamble, Kiran Shinde, and Vishal Pawar — gave “provocative speeches” that had the potential to create a rift between two communities, they said.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC, including 141 (unlawful assembly), 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), and 188 (disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant) was registered against them, said the officials.

It’s bizarre that the police and administrations have failed to take suo motto action against an illegal Islamic construction near a Hindu temple, but when the Hindu leaders and organizations came to protest those were considered provocative. This is nothing but a seer Muslim appeasement by the Shiv Sena (Shinde) and BJP alliance Government in Maharashtra.

Interestingly, when there was no election in Pune Municipal Corporation last time, the Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, IAS has been functioning as the administrator of the body without any people’s representative. Hindu organizations have alleged his pro-Muslim stand whether it is the construction of a Haj House in a Hindu-dominated area upon pre-occupied Hindu properties or any Islamic construction near a Hindu Temple.
