Aditi Nayek | HENB | Kolkata | Dec 18, 2023:: A five men team from Guinness Book of World Record authority may reach to cover the Great Gita Recital in Kolkata to register the record where a lakh of devotees and participants will recite the Srimadbhagabad Gita in an unison. Such big programme for recital of the holiest scripture of Sanatan Hindu Dharma in such a large scale never happened earlier, as claimed by the organisers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend a mass recitation of the Bhagavad Gita, where one lakh people will chant the sacred text on December 24 in Kolkata. Organizers of the event, ‘Lakhha Konthe Gita Path (Gita recital by one lakh voice),’ have also invited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The organisers have also confirmed that Dwaraka Sharda Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Sadananda Saraswati and Chief Priest of Jagannath Puri will also be present in the function along with the monks, saints and dignitaries from all the Ashram and Maths of Bengal.

The function is highly supported by Bharat Sevashram Sangha, ISKCON, Mahamilan Math, Mahanirvana Math, Pream Mandir Rishra and organised by Akhil Bharat Sanskrita Parishad, Sanatan Sanskriti Sansad, Matilal Bharat Tirtha Seva Mission Ashram and Bango Kumbha Parishad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to be present at the one lakh Bhagwat Gita recitation next week on December 24 in Kolkata. The organizers of the programme, ‘Lakhha Konthe Gita Path ‘, in which one lakh people are scheduled to chant the Bhagavad Gita on December 24, said that Modi is likely to address the event and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also been invited.

“Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is revered for having cast an overwhelming impact on the renaissance and subsequent freedom struggle of Bharat. Annotations on this scripture were penned by several venerable personalities like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Swami Pradiptananda Maharaj, President of the organizing Committee said.

“While witnessing this historic event, Kolkata will also have the gracious presence of the revered Prime Minister,” the organizers said.

“On December 24, 2023, at Brigade Parade Ground one lakh men and women will chant together the first, second, twelfth, fifteenth and eighteenth Adhyayas (chapters) of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita,” the organizers said.

The organizers claimed that “this event would set a world record, earning a place in the Guinness Book, Not only that, but an orchestra of 50 thousand Shankyadhwani, will add to the grace and grandeur of the hallowed event, creating an additional world record.”

Srimad Nirgunanada Brahmachari, Vice-President of the organising committee of the programme, said they have already sent a written invitation to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and would invite her again if protocol was an issue.

If the target of the programme is fulfilled in the tune of Recital of Gita by one lakh people and blowing conch by fifty thousand people, two separate world records likely to set, as the organisers of the programme estimate.
