Hindu Janajagruti Samiti demands ban on taking of videos and photographs of women bathing at the holy ghats of the Ganga!

Complaint to National Commission for Women and Uttarakhand State Commission for Women for legal action against those who take offensive video-pictures!

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Delhi | Jan 28, 2024:: Two advocates associated with Hindu Janajagruti Samiti have moved to National Commission for Women and Uttarakhand State Commission for Women for legal action against those who take offensive video-pictures of women bathing at the holy ghats of the Ganga.

As per complaint, the Hero City Blogs, Haridwar Vlogs, Govind UK Vlog, Adabhut Vlogs, Shanti Kunj Haridwar Vlogs and other culprits are circulating obscene and unauthorized videos, photographs of women and minor girls on social media to hurt the dignity of women. Ajay Gulati, advocate from Moga, Punjab, and Amita Sachdeva, advocate from Delhi of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti requested  National Commission for Women and Uttarakhand State Commission for Women to take strict legal action under Section 354C/509 of the Code, Section 66E/67/67A of the Information Technology Act and Section 14 of the POCSO Act. State Commission for Women.

The complaint further states that the digital media and as well as social media is currently spreading harmful and offensive contents on a large scale gainst the dignity and modesty of women and girls. Such acts mainly done by various vloggers involved in secretly making video-reel-shorts-photographs while women are bathing in the holy river Ganges to circulate those on various internet media without their consent. Due to such culpability of the bloggers, many women in the society have to face humiliating situations in front of their family, relatives and friends, causing shame. Consequently, their reputations and image are damaged due to obscene and offensive comments  written under those video-pictures, No decent woman can ever tolerate such harassment and humiliation from the strangers with ill motives. Such video-photography gives a  black stain on civilized society. Therefore, there is an immediate need for the government to ban videography and photography at various holy ghats from Gangotri to Gangasagar. Also, the government should immediately issue instructions to remove all objectionable videos, photographs, reels and shorts from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram etc. social or other internet media of the perpetrators who commit such offence.

The complaint also highly objects on the dissemination of these videos, reels, shorts, and photographs on the internet which constitute a deliberate and malicious effort aimed at outraging the religious sentiments of Hindus practicing Sanatan Dharma. This offensive content insults the very essence of Hindu religion and beliefs.

Advocate Sachdev vehemently opposes such  unauthorized videos, violating privacy and tarnishing honor of the girls and women fallen victim for ‘cheap entertainment’.

The complaint of Amita Sachdeva demands stringent and exemplary punishment, in accordance with the laws of the land through legal action to restore the rightful standing of such victim women.

The complaint given to the National Commission for Women is attached with various obscene video links and pictures of the bathing of Hindu girls and women in the ghats of Ganga taken by the bloggers and photographers clandestinely.
