The incident dates back to March 2022 when a Scheduled Caste woman of Hindu faith filed a complaint alleging that a man named Anish Ahmed posed as a Hindu man and lured her into a relationship and sexually abused her. 

Sarita Singh | HENB | Lucknow | March 9, 2024:: A Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh has been sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a Scheduled Caste woman of Hindu faith and converting her into Islam.

An SC/ST court in Bulandshahr also imposed a fine of Rs 4.45 lakh on the man for his crime.

According to Special Prosecutor Vipul Raghav, the incident dates back to March 2022 when a Scheduled Caste woman filed a complaint alleging that a man named Anish Ahmed, posing as a Hindu named Akash, lured her into a relationship.

According to the victim woman, Anish married her, deceitfully converted her religion to Islam and sexually exploited her.

During this time, the woman claimed that Anish absconded with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and a gold chain belonging to her.

According to the victim, Anees cheated her by changing her name from Anita to Ayesha. The victim’s advocate says that the accused also raped the victim and cheated her in many counts.

Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered under various sections of the IPC, including Sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), as well as Sections 3, 2, 5, and 3/5 of the SC/ST Act.

Anish was subsequently arrested and produced before the court.

After hearing both sides, the court found the accused guilty on all counts and pronounced the verdict, sentencing Anish to jail term.

It is told that, for the first time in UP, someone has been sentenced in a love jihad case for converting a Hindu girl into Islam.

However, the accused maintains his innocence and plans to appeal against the verdict in the higher court.
