On April 21, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a controversial statements at a public meeting in Rajasthan. He referred to Muslims in India as “those who have a large number of children” and the “infiltrators” claiming that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said “Muslims had the first claim on the country’s resources”. He alleged that the 2024 Congress manifesto proposes to distribute people’s wealth among Muslims if the party is elected to power. He made this claim by combining sections in the manifesto, which addresses wealth inequality, and connecting those points to the former Prime Minister’s speech in 2006.
A Business Standard video captured the controversial of speech of PM Modi which is reproduced below to know what PM Modi actually said in a Rajasthan election rally.
In the Rajasthan video,PM Modi also alleged, “Congress wants to take away the gold and property of people and distribute it among those having more children.”
According to the Economic Times, in 2006, PM Singh Singh said “We will have to devise innovative plans to ensure that minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, are empowered to share equitably the fruits of development. These must have the first claim on resources,” Singh made his speech at the 52nd meeting of the National Development Council (NDC) in New Delhi on Dec 09, 2006. Economic Times published the news of Press Trust of India (PTI) in a syndication.
As the matter has been quoted by PM Modi in the current election trail, the opposition has accused the PM of fear mongering among Hindus and also of quoting Manmohan Singh inaccurately.
Sensing a huge repercussion in ‘Muslim Vote Bank’ (though absurd), PM Modi tried to patch up the matter in an interview given in CNN-News 18 where he was seen to clarify his stand as, “I do not work for a vote bank. I believe in Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” (See the video below pointing to 7.39 sec to 9.39 sec).
PM Modi also shared the same video in his YouTube platform.
“I am shocked. Who told you that whenever one talks of people with more children, the inference is they are Muslims? Why are you so unjust towards Muslims? This is the situation in poor families too. Where there is poverty, there are more children, irrespective of their social circle. I didn’t mention either Hindu or Muslim. I have said that one should have as many children as you can take care of. Don’t let a situation arise where the government has to take care of your children,” the Prime Minister said on Tuesday (May 14, 2024).
“This issue is not about Muslims. Irrespective of how supportive individual Muslims are of Modi, there is a wave of thought that dictates to them, ‘do this, do that’. In my house, there are all Muslim families around me. Eid was also celebrated in our house, and there were other festivals in our house. Food was not cooked in our house on the day of Eid. Food used to come to my place from all the Muslim families. When Muharram started, we needed to come out from under the Tajiya, we were taught. I grew up in that world. Even today, many of my friends are Muslims. After 2002 (Godhra), my image was tarnished,” PM Modi added.
But, to save his own face as a Messiah of Muslims, Modi wanted to retract from his speech of Rajasthan where he particularly mentioned the ‘Muslims’ at least twice and clearly hinted the Muslim community as “those who have a large number of children” and the “infiltrators”.
The PM ‘s interview with Rubika Liyaquat of News 18 India in Varanasi is out of context that he claimed the distribution of excess assets among “those who have a large number of children” and the “infiltrators” could not match with his News 18 interview with the clarification that he did not mention ‘Muslims’ anyway.
Even Modi’s clarification as “Where there is poverty, there are more children, irrespective of their social circle. I didn’t mention either Hindu or Muslim” is silent about his mention about “infiltrators” as made in Rajasthan. And it is not obviously clear that whether PM Modi can not be more generous to the poor Hindu people with more children or he treats poor Hindu people from Bangladesh and Pakistan should also be treated as “infiltrators”.
The twist of Modi’s mind with a blend of gross lying clearly shows that the sentiments or the resentment of the Muslim people are the important concerns of the present prime Minister of India alike his Congress predecessors who gave much importance to Muslim appeasement without thinking about Hindu interest, very unfortunately. The same Muslim appeasement is continued in Modi regime.

In the way of Muslim Appeasement under the Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas PM Modi introduced a dozen of schemes only for Muslims, facilities of which are not available by the Majority Hindus.
