Police warning boards on Haridwar Ganga Ghats to stop video & photography of bathing women.

After Hindu Janajagruti Samiti demanded ban on taking of videos and photographs of bathing women at the holy ghats of the Ganga, warning boards installed by the police authority in Haridwar.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Haridwar | June 23, 2024:: In January this year, complaint was lodged by the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) legal team to National Commission for Women and Uttarakhand State Commission for Women for taking legal action against those who secretly take offensive video-pictures of women and minor girls bathing at the holy ghats of the Ganga,  in a very unauthorised way.

Despite the lack of firm action from the Women’s Commissions, the authorities have responded by installing “Warning Boards” to deter such activities of making reels, videos, and photography and raised awareness among the public. In many places in and around Haridwar bathing ghats, the Haridwar Police (Har ki Pauri Chowki) installed such boards to stop the menace of taking photographs of bathing Hindu women and minor girls at Ganga ghats .  

With  the installation of these boards as a positive step, HJS urged everyone, especially women, to be aware of their surroundings and report any such incidents immediately to thr police authority. HJS team also aspired  to work together with various Hindutva workforce to protect the dignity and privacy of individuals during these sacred activities in Hindu pilgrimage including the holy ghats of the Ganga.

Taking her X handle, Advocate Amita Sachdeva appreciated the initiative by the concerned police authority to install ‘Warning Boards’ to various Ganga Ghats in Haridwar. But, she has also alarmed that  offenders are still uploading such videos of bathing women including minor girls there and urged.strict action against the offenders.

Sources say that some Hindutva organisations based in Haridwar are planning to give deputations to the concerned authorities for more stringent actions.
