Jai Palestine Row: Asaduddin Owaisi’s residence in New Delhi vandalised by Hindutva activists.

Hindutva activists who were seen chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ in front of his house, pelted stones and stuck pro-Israel posters on the front gates while blackening out his address with ink.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | June 28, 2024:: As a repercussion  after Asaduddin Owaisi raised the slogans of ‘Jai Palestine’ in the Lok Sabha after taking his oath as MP on Tuesday, June 25, some Pro Israel Hindu activists from unknown organisation stormed the official residence of  Hyderabad MP at 34 Ashoka Road in New Delhi.

Taking his X handle, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday alleged that his Delhi residence was “vandalised with black ink” by “unknown miscreants”.

“Some ‘unknown miscreants’ vandalised my house with black ink today. I have now lost count the number of times my Delhi residence has targeted. When I asked Delhi Police officials how this was happening right under their nose, they expressed helplessness,” Owaisi wrote on X.

In the closing of his oath, Asaduddin raised slogans, ‘Jai Bhim’, ‘Jai Mim’, ‘Jai Telangana’, ‘Jai Palestine’ and ‘Allahu Akbar’, attracting wide criticism by various quarters.

The alleged vandalism on Thursday night with black ink besides pasting posters demanding cancellation of his Lok Sabha membership is now being investigated by the Delhi Police.

The ‘miscreants’ behind the act, who are yet to be identified, also posted posters reading Bharat Mata Ki Jai with the demand that Owaisi’s Lok Sabha membership be cancelled.

Following the incident, Delhi Police have increased security at Owaisi’s residence. A group of police officers was seen outside his home, with some removing posters that had been affixed to the nameplate and main gate.

On June 26, Advocate Amita Sachdeva of Delhi High Court sent a letter to President of India to seek action against Asaduddin Owaisi in order to cancel his Membership of Parliament under Article 102 and 103 of Constitution of India.

Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, MP Lok Sabha was administered oath as the Member of Parliament by the Protem Speaker yesterday.

During the end of oath, Mr. Owaisi raised the slogan “Jai Palestine”.

By raising the above slogan
Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, MP Lok Sabha categorically violated the provisions of the constitution.

Article 102 of the Constitution states that:

Disqualifications for Membership

(1) A person shall be disqualified for being chosen as, and for being, a member of either House of Parliament–

(a) if he holds any office of profit under the Government of India or the Government of any State, other than an office declared by Parliament by law not to disqualify its holder;

(b)if he is of unsound mind and stands so declared by a competent court;

(c) if he is an undischarged insolvent;

(d) if he is not a citizen of India, or has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a foreign State, or is under any acknowledgement of allegiance or adherence to a foreign State;

Thus by raising the slogan of Jai Palestine during his oath proceedings Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi clearly acknowledged his allegiance and adherence to the State of Palestine as mentioned in Art 102(1)(d) of the Constitution of India.

I request you to immediately send this representation to the the Speaker, Lok Sabha and initiate proceedings to Disqualify Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi as the Member of Parliament.
