Rahul Gandhi should make an apology to the Nation for his ‘anti-Hindu’ remarks in parliament.

‘Hindus are violent’ remarks by Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha spark a row; PM Modi calls it serious, Amit Shah demands apology.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | July 1, 2024:: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday triggered an huge uproar in the Lok Sabha with his remark targeting the BJP, saying those who call themselves Hindus “only talk about violence, hatred and lies”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, interrupting Gandhi’s speech, said painting the entire Hindu community as “violent” was a serious matter. After the exchange, union home minister Amit Shah demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi.

Participating in the discussion held on the motion of thanks on the President’s Address, Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-led government and claimed that there had been a “systematic attack” against the idea of India.

In an exercise to prove Congress more Hindu than BJP, Rahul Gandhi was showing pictures of Lord Shiva, Islamic prayer, Guru Nanak, and symbols of Buddhism and Jainsim  to connect the ‘Hand’ election symbol of Congress with the ‘Abhaymudra‘, the symbol of fearlessness,

But, loosing his balance, Rahul generalise ‘Hindus as violent’ at a point of time and that created a big protest from the treasury bench.

Rahul exactly said in Hindi, “Yha desh ahimsa ka desh hai. Yha desh Dar ka desh nehi hai. Hamare sare ke sare mahapurhon ne ahimsa ki bat ki, dar mitane ki bat ki. Daro mat, darao mat, Daro mat, darao mat, aur dusri taraf… Shivji kahate hai, daro mat, darao mat, abhay mudra dikhate hai…ahimsa ki bat karte hai, trishul ko jamin me gad dete hai…aur jo log apko Hindu kahte hai… vho 24 ghanta, Himsa, himsa, himsa… Nafrat, nafrat, nafrat…Asatya, astaya, asatya…. Aap Hindu ho hi nehi……“

“Abhayamudra is the symbol of the Congress…The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions… All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear… But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth…you are not Hindus….” Rahul Gandhi said in the House. Rahul also said, “Narendra Modi is not the whole Hindu Society, BJP is not the whole Hindu Society and RSS is not the entire Hindu Society”.

As a sharp reaction PM Modi intervened and said, “Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter.”

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah also slammed Rahul Gandhi’s remark and demanded an apology.

“The Leader of the Opposition has categorically said that those who call themselves Hindu talk of violence and do violence. He doesn’t know that crores of people proudly call themselves Hindu and they are not connected with violence. Connecting violence with any religion is wrong. Rahul Gandhi should know how Congress created fear by imposing emergency in the Nation and put hundreds of people into jail. They also killed hundreds of Sikhs in the broad day light in Delhi. He should apologise not only in this house, but he should apologise to the nation also.” Shah said.

While BJP MP Bhupendra Yadav objected Rahul Gandhi’s first speech in current session of Lok Sabha referring Rule  349 (xii) and 352 (ii); the Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla objected Rahul Gandhi’s action for showing some pictures inside parliament under Rule  of Parliamentary Rule Book (Rules of Procedures and Conduct and Business in Lok Sabha). BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also strongly protested the Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to declare Hindu as ‘violent’ which is utterly against the spirit of constitution.

The national Spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Ramesh Shinde vehemently condemned Rahul Gandhi for his irresponsible speech in the parliament declaring ‘Hinds are violent’.

In a tweet HJS demanded strict action against Rahul Gandhi for defaming Hindus.

The Tweet reads, “#RahulGandhi‘s statement in #ParliamentSession2024 today attempted to portray Hindus as violent (hinsak), and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti strongly condemns this. This is not his first attempt; previously, the Congress has tried to introduce the concept of saffron terrorism or Hindu terrorism. The Congress has always tried to defame the Hindu community on a global level. Rahul Gandhi’s earlier visits to temples wearing a sacred thread were deceitful, as he has now made it clear to the Hindu community. Gandhi, whom he often references for his non-violence teachings, himself identified as a Hindu who believed in the chaturvarna. Rahul Gandhi should understand this clearly. Will Rahul Gandhi speak which community was responsible for the displacement of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s? Despite the atrocities kashmiri hindus faced, how many of them took up arms like AK-47? He should address this. The global Hindu community today is recognized for its ideology of universal peace and welfare, embodying the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or the world as one family. Labeling this community as violent or terrorist is an attempt to tarnish its reputation. राहुल गांधी should feel ashamed of his ancestors instead. We demand that strict action be taken against him, and all Congress leaders should clarify their stance on what they think of Hindus!”
