Tezpur varsity to open centre for Hindu studies.

Tezpur University poised to launches Hindu studies centre.

Kangan Kalita | TNN | Guwahati | July 25, 2024::  Tezpur University in Assam is set to inaugurate a centre for Hindu studies to “promote the comprehensive understanding and appreciation of Hindu philosophy, culture and heritage”. The proposal has been approved by the academic council and board of management (highest executive body) of the central university.

Tezpur University will be the first higher educational institution in the northeast to offer programmes on Hindu studies, TU stated in a release on Tuesday.

The university also plans to open a centre for Indian knowledge system to support multidisciplinary research in Indian traditions.

TU VC Shambhu Nath Singh wrote to UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, requesting necessary resources and support for these centres.

TU will be the first higher educational institution in northeast India to offer programs on Hindu Studies, TU stated in a release on Tuesday. Alongside, the university plans to establish a Centre for Indian Knowledge System to support multidisciplinary research in Indian traditions.

TU vice-chancellor, Shambhu Nath Singh, wrote to the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday, requesting necessary resources and support for these centers. Singh’s letter to UGC Chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar outlined the need for faculty and staff to ensure the success of these academic ventures.

“These two proposals have been approved by the 47th meeting of the Academic Council and the 120th meeting of the Board of Management of Tezpur University. May I request you to kindly consider our proposal for approval with necessary faculty and staff for establishing these two centres at Tezpur University and oblige,” Singh stated in the letter.
