BJP Slams WB’s Assembly Speaker For Not Allowing Adjournment Motion On State Minister And Kolkata Mayor’s Controversial ‘Anti-Hindu’ Remarks On ‘Dawat-e-Islam’.

Suvendu AdikariPrakash Narayan Das | HENB | Kolkata | July 26, 2024:: The prominent Hindutva face in the state and The Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Friday criticized the Speaker of the Assembly, Biman Banerjee, for rejecting the BJP’s adjournment motion seeking a debate on the controversial remarks made by Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim.

Suvendu Adhikari alleged that the Speaker’s decision to disallow the adjournment motion was politically motivated.

West Bengal LoP and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said, “We brought a complaint against the wrong remarks by Firhad Hakim who is a mayor and also a member of Mamata Banerjee’s party. Motivated by politics, the Speaker rejected the adjournment motion. The Speaker said that this subject is not related to state government…In an event, Firhad Hakim said that those who are born in other religions are very unfortunate…”

On July 3, the State Minister, Senior TMC leader and close aide to WB CM Mamata Banerjee and Mayor of Kolkata, Firhad Hakim (Bobby) addressed in a Quran Competition in an Government auditorium in Kolkata. There he commented, “Muslims are fortunate as they born as Muslims and the others who do not born in Muslim faith are unfortunate. Hakim urged the fellow Muslim men to give a call to make others as Muslim through ‘Dawat-e-Islam’.

Describing it as a blatant communal flash-out, Adhikari condemned Firhad Hakim as he hurt the sentiments of all non-Muslims including, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Christian, Jain and Parsi people.

This created a huge Hindu repercussion in the mind of the majority people in Bengal.

“We lodged a complaint against the inappropriate remarks by Firhad Hakim, who is both the mayor of Kolkata and a member of Mamata Banerjee’s party. The Speaker, motivated by politics, rejected the adjournment motion,” Adhikari told reporters.

“The Speaker stated that this subject is not related to the state government. In an event, Firhad Hakim remarked that those born in other religions are very unfortunate,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Adhikari submitted an adjournment motion proposal seeking a discussion on Firhad Hakim’s comment made at a community gathering.

After the Speaker refused to admit the adjournment motion, BJP MLAs protested and came to the Well of the House. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the resignation of Firhad Hakim. Accordingly the members of BJP walked out the Assembly registering their protest.

After leaving the Assembly house LoP Adhikari with his fellow members in BJP demonstrated a protest against the TMC ruled State Government before the media.

In that protest BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul demanded the dismissal of Firhad Hakim from his Mayoral and Ministerial post forthwith.

Agnimitra Paul raised an alarm against the appeasement policy of TMC in Bengal and condemned CM Mamata Banerjee for her indulgence of Muslim fanaticism where the TMC leader and MLA from Murshidabad’s Bharatpur Humayun Kabir threatened the Hindus to flow them in the water of Bhagrirati river within two hours or a TMC leader of Chopra Tejamul alias JCB embroiled an allegation of calming an ‘Islamic State’ environs in the pretext of  public flogging of a couple in a Kangaroo Court.

….

During the protest all the BJP members were holding a copy of Srimad Bhagavad Gita in their hands and wearing the message of Sri ramakrisha, “Jata Mot Tato Path” (There are as many paths as there are various opinions) and the saying of Swami Vivekananda, “Garv Kore Balo, Ami Hindu” (Be proud call myself as Hindu).
