Protest Guwahati

Swarna Kangan Kalita | HENB | Guwahati | Aug 11, 2024:: On Saturday, Hindutva activists from seven organizations staged a protest rally in Guwahati, expressing grave concerns about the security and well-being of Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh. The protesters marched along a 1.5-kilometer route from Guwahati Club Chowk to the office of Ruhul Amin, Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati, where they submitted a charter of demands.

The charter of demands stressed the importance of protecting the vulnerable Bangladeshi Hindus and other minority communities there and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough survey to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals currently living in Bangladesh.

A coalition of seven groups, comprising Kutumba Suraksya Parishad, Hindu Surakshya Sena (Assam), Bengali Jatiya Parishad (Assam), Sanatani Bir Hindu Sena (Assam), Jagrat Prahari (Assam), Hindu Rakhi Dal, and Bharat Sevasram Sangha, came together to organize the protest rally.

Kutumba Suraksya Parishad president Satya Ranjan Bora, who led the protest, stressed the need for safety and dignity for Hindus and Buddhists in Bangladesh.

He proposed that if the Bangladesh government is incapable of ensuring the necessary protection, an autonomous state for minorities should be explored as a viable option. ‘If the Government of Bangladesh acknowledges its inability to provide dignity and security to the Hindu and Buddhist populations, then it should consider establishing a separate autonomous state for these minority groups,’ Bora suggested.

He also urged the Indian govt to identify and safeguard Indians studying, working, or doing business in Bangladesh.
