Upendra Bharati | HENB | Nagpur | Aug 15, 2024:: Better late than never. At last, RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat expressed deep concern over the recent surge in targeted attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, highlighting the senseless violence they are facing. He underscored India’s moral obligation to protect the Hindu community in Bangladesh, saying, “Hindus in Bangladesh are facing violence for no reason, and it is our duty to guarantee they do not suffer any atrocities.”
While addressing the gathering after hoisting the national flag at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters at Mahal on 78th Independence Day celebration programme, Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the importance of safeguarding India’s sovereignty. He stated, “The future generation has the responsibility to protect the ‘swa’ (self) in ‘swatantrata’ (independence), as there will always be forces seeking to dominate other nations. We must remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to shield ourselves from such threats.”
RSS Chief observed that situations are constantly changing, oscillating between good and bad phases. He noted that this fluctuation is an ongoing phenomenon. Referring to the current circumstances, he stated, “We are witnessing a challenging situation at present, marked by widespread violence in a neighboring country, where Hindus are being targeted and persecuted without any justification.” Although he didn’t explicitly mention Bangladesh, his remarks were clearly alluding to the recent developments in the country.
Bhagwat highlighted India’s long-standing tradition of offering assistance to others, saying, “Our country has consistently demonstrated a willingness to help those in need, regardless of how they treat us. In recent years, India has never initiated attacks on other nations, instead, we have provided aid to those facing difficulties.” He emphasized the importance of balancing national safety with international support, stating, “In this context, it is essential to ensure our country’s security while also extending help to other nations when required.”
“”The responsibility lies with our nation to safeguard those suffering from instability and anarchy, ensuring they are not subjected to trouble, injustice, or atrocities,” RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat stated. He emphasized the importance of collective effort, adding, “While the government has a crucial role to play in this regard, its efforts are strengthened when society fulfills its duties and demonstrates unwavering commitment to the nation.”.
Bhagwat’s remarks come at a time when reports of attacks on Hindus are coming from Bangladesh, which saw massive upheaval after the fall of Sheikh Hasina.
The Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance has alleged that the minority community faced attacks and threats in more than 250 locations across 52 districts since Hasina’ resignation as Prime Minister.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke on attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. During his address to the nation from Red Fort, the Prime Minister said he understands the concerns regarding Hindus here and hopes the situation in Bangladesh gets normal at the earliest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced his concern over the recent events in Bangladesh, saying, “As a neighboring nation, I share the apprehensions regarding the situation unfolding in Bangladesh. I fervently hope for a swift return to normalcy.” He underscored India’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh, echoing the concerns of the Indian people.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s unwavering dedication to peace and prosperity in the region, stating, “We remain steadfast in our pursuit of peace and harmony. In the days to come, we will continue to extend our support to Bangladesh’s progress and peace, driven by our commitment to the well-being of all humanity.”
