Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | Sept 13, 2024:: Recently released Bangladeshi Islamic radical Jashimuddin Rahmani has called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to “declare Bengal’s independence from Modi’s rule” in a viral video. Rahmani, the leader of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), a designated terrorist organization, also threatened to “break up” India and “hoist Islamist flags in Delhi”. His release was facilitated by the interim government following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s administration.
In a video statement as uploaded by YouTube channel. ‘Waz Official’, Jashimuddin Rahmani, the leader of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), an al-Qaeda affiliate, called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to “declare independence from the Modi government’s rule”. Rahmani also made several provocative demands, urging Pakistan and Afghanistan to “liberate Kashmir”, appealing to China to “capture the Chicken’s Neck corridor”, and encouraging Sikhs to “claim Khalistan” with an aspiration to “free the Seven Sisters in North East India”. Furthermore, the recently released terrorist boasted that “India will be partitioned, and Islamist flags will be hoisted over Delhi”
Our Dhaka-based fact-checker has verified the authenticity of a video featuring Jashimuddin Rahmani, likely recorded in a hospital ward, to HENB. The video was probably shot in the first week of September, as Rahmani references the “one month anniversary of the revolution” that led to Sheikh Hasina’s ouster. This “revolution” refers to the protests in Bangladesh that culminated on August 5, when Sheikh Hasina fled the country, marking the end of the demonstrations. It is also evident that the interim government in Bangladesh is providing tacit support to terrorists like Jashimuddin Rahmani, enabling them to pursue their anti-Indian and anti-Hindu agenda.
Jashimuddin Rahmani, previously imprisoned for five years for the murder of a blogger, was released on parole in August. This came shortly after a military-backed interim government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, assumed power.
Jashimuddin Rahmani, an Islamic extremist with known ties to Pakistan-based terrorist groups, has made a public statement advocating for the secession of West Bengal. In his remarks, Rahmani expressed support for various separatist movements across India and addressed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging her to “declare independence” from the central government led by Prime Minister Modi.
Rahmani cautioned India against taking any aggressive actions towards Bangladesh. He emphasized Bangladesh’s distinct status, saying, “Bangladesh is not like Sikkim or Bhutan; it is a nation of 18 crore Muslims.” Rahmani implied that any provocation would lead to strategic retaliation, underscoring the potential consequences of such actions.
He then issued a threat to India, stating that if the country takes any action against Bangladesh, he would seek China’s assistance in severing the Siliguri corridor, also known as the “chicken’s neck”. This narrow, 20-kilometer stretch connects India’s northeastern states to the rest of the country. Rahmani warned that he would request China to close this critical passage and encourage the Seven Sisters (Northeastern states in India) to join a “freedom movement” in response to any Indian aggression towards Bangladesh. Rahmani also urged the Sikh community, encouraging them to actively pursue the establishment of Khalistan, a proposed separate state for Sikhs, without delay.
Rahmani’s message to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee comes at a particularly sensitive moment, as her government is currently facing widespread public outrage and criticism following the recent rape and murder of a 31-year-old Post Graduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Jashimuddin Rahmani Urges Pakistan to Support Kashmiris
Rahmani, the chief of the banned outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), referenced the Khalistani movement in Punjab and the terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir while discussing the potential “disintegration” of India. In a 30-minute video, Rahmani warned India that Bangladesh’s Muslim population, which he referred to as the “Tawhid population”, would unite and rise up if Bangladesh faced any challenges from India.”
In a video statement, Jashimuddin Rahmani issued threats against India, referencing Bangladesh’s population of 18 crore Muslims and warning of severe consequences for any perceived aggression. He stated, “This is our sacred land… If you dare to look this way, your eyes will be taken out… Take a step forward, and your legs will be broken… Reach out, and your hands will be cut off…” Rahmani also predicted the fragmentation of India, saying, “The day is not far when your country too will be broken, and the flags of the Tawhid will flutter in Delhi.”
Additionally, Rahmani, who has openly expressed support for al-Qaida and its Indian subcontinent branch (AQIS), called for assistance from Pakistan and Afghanistan to “liberate Kashmir” and advocated for the establishment of Khalistan. He stated, “Tell Kashmir to get ready for freedom. Pakistan and Afghanistan together will help Kashmir gain independence. We will work for the freedom of Kashmir.
Jashimuddin Rahmani, who has been jailed under Bangladesh’s anti-terror laws during Sheikh Hasina’s rule, issued a warning to India in his video statement, advising against close association with the former Bangladesh Prime Minister. He described Hasina as “rotten” and cautioned India that such an alliance would be detrimental, stating, “I will tell India not to dance around with Hasina.”
Rahmani’s rhetoric against India amounts to a declaration of war, and the Government of India must take decisive action by summoning the Bangladesh High Commissioner to convey a strong message to the interim government of Bangladesh, demanding an immediate cessation of such hostile activities against a neighboring country.
