B Upendran | HENB | Vijayawada | Sept 21, 2024:: The Telangana Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for swift and severe action in response to allegations that animal fat was added to the sacred Tirupati Prasadam. VHP Vice President Ram Singh emphasized that everyone involved should face immediate arrest and punishment . He also warned that if the government fails to act, Hindu organizations like Bajrang Dal, Sangh Parivar, and devotees of Balaji should take matters into their own hands.
This controversy has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding accountability for the alleged desecration of the sacred offering. The VHP’s strong stance reflects the organization’s commitment to protecting Hindu values and traditions. As a prominent Hindu nationalist organization, the VHP has been vocal about issues affecting the Hindu community.
Ram Singh, Vice President of Telangana Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has made some serious allegations regarding the use of ghee containing animal fat in Tirupati Prasadam. He claims that those involved did it for financial gain, purchasing substandard ghee for Rs 380 per kg instead of the usual Rs 800-1000. Singh views this as a blatant case of desecration, motivated by greed.
Singh’s statement highlights the widespread outrage over this controversy, with many demanding accountability for the alleged desecration. The VHP has demanded immediate arrests and punishment for those responsible, emphasizing that the government must take strict action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
YS Sharmila, Congress state president, has taken a strong stance on the Tirupati Prasadam controversy, calling for a CBI inquiry into the alleged use of substandard ingredients, including fish oil, beef tallow, and lard (pig fat). She met with Governor S Abdul Nazeer, who reportedly responded positively to her request. Sharmila highlighted the significant price discrepancy between the ghee used as ‘naivedyam’ brand (Rs 1600 per kg) and the ghee used as Prasadam brand (Rs 320 per kg), as revealed by the National Dairy Development Board report.
Sharmila’s demand for a CBI inquiry is backed by the Telangana Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which has also demanded strict action against those responsible for the alleged desecration ². The controversy has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the motives behind the use of substandard ingredients.
A controversy erupted after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged that substandard ingredients, including animal fat, were used in Tirupati laddus during the previous YSRCP government. Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSRCP fired back, accusing the TDP of politicizing religious matters.
The Tirupati temple controversy intensifies as allegations of animal fat in sacred laddoos spark outrage. In response, the Centre has demanded a report from Andhra Pradesh’s government. Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi has also urged an investigation, amid growing concerns among devotees.
Deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan has proposed creating a ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board‘ at the national level after reports of adulteration in Tirupati Laddu Prasadams. He demanded accountability from the TTD board and called for a national debate to protect dharmic practices and temple traditions. Pawan Kalyan also declared to undertake 11 day penance over alleged ‘animal fat’ in laddus
Former TTD chief priest Ramana Deekshitulu has claimed that he flagged the poor quality of laddu when YSRCP government was in power in Andhra Pradesh but no one paid attention to it.
Amid the outrage over the alleged use of animal fat in ghee in the preparation of laddus at the famous Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, the chief priest of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya Acharya Satyendra Das has claimed that the laddus from Tirupati were also distributed during the Ram Lalla consecration ceremony on January 22 this year as ‘prasad’ among the devotees.
According to the sources, laddus weighing around three tonnes had been sent to Ayodhya by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which managed the affairs of Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple popularly known as Tirupati Temple.
”It’s very unfortunate and it has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus…it has also affected the reputation of Tirupati Temple,” Acharya Satendra Das said.
