Yati Narsinghanand Row: Stubborn Uttar Praedesh Police dismantled Mahapanchayat.

Chaos outside Dasna temple during Mahapanchayat, police resorted to lathicharge, BJP MLAs held panchayat on the road.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | Oct 13, 2024:: The Uttar Pradesh police foiled the attempt to hold a Maha Panchayat on Sunday in support of Dasna temple’s Mahant Yati Narsinghanand, who is accused of making ‘derogatory’ comments on Prophet Mohammad. According to police sources, Narsinghanand’s supporters wanted to hold a Maha Panchayat outside the Dasna temple for which Narsinghanand Saraswati Foundation’s general secretary Dr. Udita Tyagi had sought permission, but the district administration did not grant permission citing the imposition of prohibitory orders.

Police said that despite this, the supporters gathered to organize the program, but the police dispersed them. He said that as a precaution, the police had put up barricades since morning on all the roads connecting the temple to the villages and the city. Police said that some supporters of Narasimhanand tried to remove the barricades to reach the temple, but the police dispersed them using force. Many videos of the incident have been circulated on social media in which policemen are seen wielding sticks to disperse the crowd.

Udita Tyagi, general secretary of Narsinhanand Saraswati Foundation, staged a sit-in protest at the temple gate along with saints against this police action. She alleged that the police were beating devotees outside the temple. In a video released on social media, Tyagi alleged that the police arrested the followers who were going to attend the Mahapanchayat from their homes on Saturday night itself.

She alleged, “Dr. BP Tyagi, who was going towards the temple in an ambulance carrying medicines for the saints, was also stopped. When he got down from the ambulance and moved towards the temple, the police stopped him on the road.” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Loni Nand Kishore Gurjar also came out openly in support of Narsinghanand and he also tried to go to the temple. When the police stopped him, he sat down on the road and held a panchayat. He demanded that Rohingya Muslims be expelled from the country and the National Security Act (NSA) be imposed on those who allegedly attacked the Dasna temple.

When asked about the lathicharge by the police on Narsinghanand’s supporters, Deputy Commissioner of Police N.K. Tiwari said, “I have not seen the videos of the incident. If necessary, action will be taken after watching the video.” On September 29, Mahant Narsinghanand of Dasna temple had made objectionable remarks against Hazrat Mohammad, which was opposed across the country. A case was registered against Narsinghanand in this case. On October 4, in protest against the indecent remarks of the Mahant, a crowd of people from the Muslim community violently demonstrated outside the Dasna temple and allegedly pelted stones. On October 11, the police arrested Anil Yadav, a close associate of Narsinghanand. Yadav alias Chhota Narsinghanand is also a co-accused with Yati Narsinghanand in the case of making ‘objectionable’ remarks against Islamic Prophet Hazrat Mohammad.

In a programme, Yati Narsinghanada said, ” For committing a single mistake (abduction of Mother Sita)  Hindus have been burning effigy of Ravan through the ages. Now, Hindus should start to burn the effigy of Muhammad who committed and caused lakhs of sins like looth (plunder), murder, rape and abductions.” For this statement of Yati Narsinghanand, the Muslim community came to the streets with the demand to punish Yati Narsinghanand.

BJP MLA was sitting on the road

BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar was also going to join this panchayat. After the police stopped him, he sat down with his supporters on NH-9 and started the panchayat there itself. Here the police had put up barricades near Dasna Devi temple. The activists forcibly tried to remove the barricades while moving towards the temple. After this the police retaliated and also lathicharged to control the situation.

Hindus angry for police action

Hindus reacted vehemently for police action to dismantle the Mahapanchayat. They demanded arrest of social media influencer Mohammed Zubair  and Shoaib Jamei who allegedly initiated the Islamist agitation around Dasna Devi Temple against yati Narsinghanand.
