BahraichSatyendra Singh | HENB | Lucnow | Oct 17, 2024:: On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh police arrested five Muslim suspects in connection with the Bahraich violence including Ram Gopal Mishra Murder case, following an encounter that left two of the suspects with gunshot injuries, according to Bahraich Superintendent of Police, Vrinda Shukla.

“Five people have been arrested. Two of them have been injured in police firing. I am here to assess their condition. One of the injured is Md. Sarfaraz, the other is Md. Talib,” Shukla said.

According to Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla, the encounter occurred when police visited the Nanpara area to recover the murder weapon. Md Sarfaraz and Md Talib, who had loaded the weapon, opened fire on the police. In self-defense, officers returned fire, injuring the two suspects. Fortunately, they survived and are receiving medical attention.

Shukla confirmed the arrest of three additional suspects and announced that all accused would face charges under the National Security Act (NSA) and other applicable laws. Investigating officers believe the suspects attempted to flee to Nepal, which borders Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district.

Five accused have been arrested in connection with the Bahraich violence case, according to Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash. The accused were identified as Mohammad Faheen, Mohammad Sarfaraz, Abdul Hameed, Mohammad Taleem alias Sabloo, and Mohammad Afzal. During the encounter, two of the accused, Sarfaraz and Taleem, suffered gunshot injuries while attempting to flee to Nepal.

Acting on tips from the arrested duo, the police team went to recover the murder weapon in Nanpara, Bahraich district. However, they came under fire from Hameed, Sarfaraz, and Afzal.

According to a local healthcare center doctor: “Two individuals, Sarfaraz and Taleem, were brought in around 2:35 pm. Both had leg injuries – one on the left and the other on the right. The bullets are still lodged in their bodies. I’ve referred them to Bahraich District Hospital for X-rays and further treatment. Fortunately, they’re in stable condition.”

Meanwhile, the post-mortem report of the deceased, Ram Gopal Mishra, indicated that he had suffered 30 plus pellet injuries caused by a fire apparently from a 12-bore gun.

Police said the autopsy report failed to find any sharp edge injury marks on his body and there was no evidence of him being electrocuted or his nails being removed as was being stated by various misleading reports on social media.

Bahraich  saw an extreme violence during goddess Durga idol immersion on Sunday night over playing DJ music system. The preliminary investigation report over the Bahraich communal flareup between two communities that led to one death and widespread vandalism has found both an intelligence failure and a planned conspiracy as the factors behind it.

The report, submitted to the DGP headquarters for further action, puts it on complete negligence of the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and Mahsi Circle Officer Rupendra Kumar Gaur. Consequently, Gaur faced the axe and has been removed from his position. He has been replaced by Ravi Khokhar as the new Circle Officer of Mahsi.
