Sandeep Singh | HENB | Gurugram | Nov 1, 2024:: A disturbing incident of communal violence has been reported in Faridabad in the BJP ruled state Haryana, where a Hindu family was allegedly attacked by a Muslim mob during Diwali celebrations in the Anandpur locality.

Family members, including women and children, were assaulted by the mob, reportedly led by two individuals, Raj and Ashiq. The victims also alleged that their daughter was molested, her clothes torn, and subjected to attempted sexual assault.

Traumatized by the ordeal, the family has put up their house for sale, indicating their decision to leave the area due to fear and insecurity.

Reports indicate that a communal altercation erupted in Subhash Colony when the minor son of Durga Prasad was bursting firecrackers outside their residence. A group of Muslims, led by Raj and Ashiq from the neighborhood, confronted the youngster, demanding he cease the firecracker activity.

This led to a heated argument between the family and the Muslim group, which rapidly escalated into violence. The mob attacked the Hindu household, pelting stones and bricks. The family sought refuge inside, locking their door, but the assailants forcibly entered by smashing the main door.

Once inside, the mob brutally assaulted family members, including women, using sticks. In a disturbing turn of events, the perpetrators further targeted the victim’s elder sister, subjecting her to molestation and sexual assaults.

In its X handle, the The Treeni posted a CCTV camera footage including a short clippings of a victim woman who narrated her ordeal in it.

Following the brutal assault, the victim’s daughter lodged a complaint at the local police station, prompting the registration of a case and the initiation of an investigation. However, police officials have declined to comment on the matter to the media.

The victim’s family and other Hindu residents in the area allege that attacks by Muslims on Hindu families have become a recurring phenomenon. Durga Prasad, the victim’s father, stated that Hindus can no longer perform Bhajan Kirtan (devotional singing) due to opposition from Muslims.

He lamented that the area has become reminiscent of Kashmir, with Hindus now constituting a minority. Persistent attacks have already driven several Hindu families to relocate, seeking safety elsewhere.

Despite repeated complaints, the families claim that police inaction has emboldened the perpetrators, allowing such incidents to continue unchecked.

It’s indeed disturbing to see attacks on Hindus happening in a BJP-ruled state, especially when they’ve been in power for three consecutive terms.
