Krantiveera Brigade will work for Hindutva and Nation: K S Eshwarappa.

Former Deputy CM Eshwarappa Forms Krantiveera Brigade to Promote Action Based Hindutva Values.

B Upendran | HENB | Shivamogga | Nov 17, 2024::  K.S. Eshwarappa, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, has announced the formation of the Krantiveera Brigade in Vijayapura on Saturday. According to his plans, the brigade will hold a rally in Basavana Bagewadi in February next year, marking its formal launch.

Eshwarappa was a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and prominent OBC  Lingayat face in the party. He  had a long and storied career in Karnataka politics, serving as Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Minister of Youth Empowerment & Sports, and Minister of Energy, among other roles. He was also known as a RSS insider in  Karnataka politics who left BJP for various differences of opinions in the party. Actually, BJP expelled  Eshwarappa for contesting in Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency against son of party veteran B.S. Yediyurappa in April last year.

K.S. Eshwarappa’s rift with his mother party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stems from his dissatisfaction with their stance on Hindutva and what he perceives as Muslim appeasement policies. His frustration boiled over when his son, Kantesh, was denied a ticket to contest the general election for the Lok Sabha from Haveri, leading Eshwarappa to blame party colleague B.S. Yeddyurappa.

Eshwarappa said it was a non-political body that would not be under his control. The brigade would fight to protect the interests of Hindutva and the nation. Its office-bearers will be swamis of mutts and the members will be interested youth, he said. The brigade will also demand government support for smaller mutts to build up a Hindutva coordination among the Hindu Ashrams and religious bodies.

Interestingly, this isn’t his first brigade. In 2016, he formed the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, named after the legendary freedom fighter Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, who fought against the British East India Company .

Additionally, Eshwarappa had announced plans to form the Rayanna Channamma Brigade earlier this year, focusing on protecting the interests of SC/STs, OBCs, and Lingayats. This announcement came after a meeting with seers at Amogha Siddeshwar Mutt in Arakeri.

Staunch Hindutva face  Eshwarappa has taken a strong stance, refusing to apologize for his anti-Muslim statements made at a recent anti-Waqf rally, even if it means going to jail. This rally, titled “Waqf Hatao, Desh Bachao” in Belagavi, sparked controversy and demanded the creation of a Sanatan Board to manage Hindu religious properties, similar to the Waqf Board for Islamic assets.

Meanwhile, Sri Makhanapur Somnath Swami, selected to lead the Krantiveera Brigade, emphasizes its focus on promoting Hindu faith awareness. The brigade aims to safeguard Hindutva and national interests, with Swamis of mutts as office-bearers and enthusiastic youth as members.
