Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | Dec 3, 2024:: The fate of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari’s bail hangs in the balance, and it may take another month to get an answer. Das, the spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatanee Jagoron Jot, former ISKCON Priest and Pundarik Dham Chief, has been imprisoned, and his bail hearing has been postponed. The hearing was scheduled for today, December 3, at the Court of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Saiful Islam in Chattogram. However, no lawyer appeared on behalf of Chinmoy, and as a result, the court has rescheduled the hearing for January 2, 2025. Chattogram Metropolitan Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Mofizur Rahman informed this to bdnews24.com news portal.
Tight security measures were in place around the Chattogram court area since morning due to Chinmoy Das’s bail hearing. Large contingents of law enforcement personnel were deployed in various parts of the court premises. However, Chinmoy Das was not produced in court today. Some leaders of the lawyers’ association and general lawyers were seen rallying in the court premises in the morning. Under a reported truce of inconvenience, Chinmoy Das was produced to the court.
On Monday reports came to fore that Advocate Ramen Roy, who represents arrested Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, was brutally assaulted in Bangladesh and is now hospitalised in critical condition.
According to the Vice-President of Kolkata ISKCON, Radharaman das, “His (Adv. Ramen Roy’s) only ‘fault’ was defending Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in court. Islamists ransacked his home and brutally attacked him, leaving him in the ICU, fighting for his life”.
From an social media posting , it is revealed (as claimed) One Advocate Regan Acharya, going to the Chattogram Court today for appearing on behalf of Chinmoy Prabhu, was attacked and injured seriously. Reportedly his chamber was also vandalised.
On November 26 in a sedition case Das was sent to jail. Following the court’s order, members of the Sanatani Hindu community staged a protest surrounding the prison van in the court premises. The demonstration was eventually dispersed by police using sound grenades, after which Das was taken to jail.
A tragic incident occurred in Chattogram, Bangladesh, where a lawyer named Saifful Islam Alif was killed during a clash between protesters and lawyers. The protesters, who were supporting Chinmoy Krishna Das, a leader of the Sanatani Jagran Manch, had gathered outside the court premises. When the court denied Das’s bail, the protesters became violent, vandalizing motorcycles and vehicles parked on the court road.
In response, the Muslim lawyers and court staff chased the protesters, leading to a violent confrontation. Unfortunately, during this clash, Saifful Islam Alif was attacked and killed.
After Chinmoy Das’s bail was rejected, his lawyers filed a revision petition against the order and submitted another bail application on the same day. However, no hearing took place that day. The next hearing was scheduled for December 3, but Chinmoy Das was not produced in court, and his lawyers were not allowed to appear for the hearing. The court has now rescheduled the hearing for January 2, 2025 to put Chinmoy Krishna for a month long captivity.
Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson for the Sanatani Hindu community, was arrested on November 25 at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. This came after a sedition case was filed against him and 18 others on October 30 at Kotwali police station in Chattogram. The case was filed in response to a public gathering held at Lal Dighi ground in Chattogram on October 25, where Das was a key speaker. It is told that a Saffron Flag was found hoisted above the height of a Bangladesh national Flag from a pole 1 km away from the Lal Dighi for which Chinmoy Krishna was implicated in a sedation case. .
Das had been vocal about protesting attacks on minorities across the country following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5. He had been advocating for an eight-point demand on behalf of the Sanatani Hindu community.
The unlawful repression against Chinmoy Krishna Das sparked outrage in the Hindu society in Bangladesh. Protests were held in various districts of the country, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Comilla, Khulna, Dinajpur, and Cox’s Bazar, on Monday till late at night.
So, Three cases were filed by the police for clashes, vandalism, and obstruction of police work in the court area on November 26. In these three cases, a total of 76 people were named and 1,400 others were accused anonymously.
Additionally, a murder case was filed by the father of lawyer Saifful Islam Alif, who was killed in the incident, naming 31 people and accusing 15-16 others anonymously.
Another case was filed by Alif’s brother, Khan Alom, accusing 116 people of vandalizing vehicles and attacking the general public at the Kotwali police station.
The police have arrested 39 people in connection with these cases so far. Lawyers in Chittagong court observed a boycott and work stoppage on Wednesday and Thursday in protest of Alif’s murder.
The Chittagong District Bar Association leaders demanded that Chinmoy Das be made an accused in all the cases. It’s worth noting that most of the leaders are involved with BNP politics.
The Bangladesh United Sanatan Jagoron Jot claimed in a statement on Sunday that 70 Hindu lawyers were accused in a case filed by Alif’s brother Khan Alom. The organization alleged that this was done to prevent Chinmoy Krishna Das’s bail hearing.
For the injustice made to Chinmoy Krishna Das by the blind-fold Bangladesh judiciary system and the anti-Hindu political rackets, repercussions have also reached India, specially in West Bengal.
Hindus have started a campaign against Bangladeshi people with a demand of “#BoycottBangladesh Petrapole should be closed until 2.1.2025. The GOI should stop all imports & exports. All Momins coming to India from Bangladesh for medical or other reasons should be locked up in a prison of protest”.
For sources it has been divulged that Bangladeshi Muslims staying in India for various purposes including those coming from medical treatment may face offensive situations, if not Chinmoy Prabhu is released from Bangladesh jail.

In Bangladesh Islamists have long been harbouring an animus towards people professing Hinduism and the abolition of a secular democratic system has led to widespread racial hatred against the main ethnic minority across the country. There seems to be two ways to extricate Hindus from this traumatic situation. One– Hindus must flee the country to escape this kind of barbaric religious persecution, the other– Hindus must convert to Islam to remain perpetually safe in a country which no longer observes the principles of democracy or secularism. In India vote-hungry politicians like Mamta Banerjee or Rahul Gandhi are still dead silent, and the violence meted out to innocent Hindus can hardly reduce them to tears. They can only see saffron terrorism and are always eager to brand BJP as communal. This is something that keeps enriching their vote-banks. Now just think about the mental state of those hapless victims whose lives are by degrees being more imperiled in Bangladesh. What would we ,the safe Indian Hindus, do if we were put in a similar situation?
