Saif Ali Khan Attack Case: Muslim Accused allegedly from Bangladesh; entered India illegally, took a Hindu name. 

Sikha Shinde | HENB | Mumbai | Jan 19, 2025:: Mumbai police have made a significant breakthrough in the Saif Ali Khan attack case, revealing that the accused is allegedly a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally and assumed a new identity. According to DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, preliminary investigations suggest that the accused is a Bangladeshi Muslim national who changed his name after illegally entering India, and was using the Hindu alias “Vijay Das”.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, was arrested in the Thane district of Maharashtra. Police suspect that he is an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh. Interestingly, the accused had multiple aliases, including Vijay Das, Bijoy Das, and Mohammed Iliyas .

Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Bandra home, sustaining stab wounds to his thoracic spine. The incident occurred when an intruder confronted the actor’s maid, and Saif intervened, leading to a violent confrontation. The actor is currently recovering in the hospital.

Police investigations have revealed that Md Shariful Islam Shehzad, the 30-year-old accused in the Saif Ali Khan attack case, arrived in Mumbai approximately 5-6 months ago. Initially, he resided within the city before relocating to its outskirts. During his stay, Shehzad was employed by a housekeeping agency. The police are continuing their investigation, delving deeper into the accused’s background and motives.

Mumbai Police Arrests Saif Ali Khan’s Alleged Attacker

In a swift operation, Mumbai Police apprehended a man from Thane in the early hours of Sunday for allegedly attacking actor Saif Ali Khan in his Bandra residence. The incident occurred on Thursday, resulting in Khan sustaining multiple stab wounds, including a serious injury to his thoracic spine.

Khan underwent successful surgery at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where a 2.5-inch-long blade was removed. According to hospital authorities, the actor is recovering well and has been transferred from the ICU to a normal room. Although Khan is currently out of danger, medical staff continue to closely monitor his condition.

There have been numerous documented cases where individuals from the Muslim community have allegedly committed crimes while impersonating Hindus, with the apparent intention of discrediting the Hindu community.
