The Truth Of Sambhal, Mathura & Kashi Should Come Out.

Yog Adityanath

Truth of Sambhal must come out: Yogi breaks silence on row over Mohan Bhagwat’s ‘mandir-masjid’ remark.

In a diplomatic way Yogi clarified that Mohan Bhagwat’s remark on temple-mosque disputes was directed at those attempting to stir unnecessary controversies for cheap popularity.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Prayagraj | Jan 25, 2025:: Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has clarified that Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks on temple-mosque disputes were aimed at individuals who try to stir up unnecessary controversies for personal gain. Bhagwat, the RSS chief, had earlier stated that the rising temple-mosque disputes in the country are “unacceptable” and that some individuals are trying to create “Ram-temple-like” controversies in different parts of the country to gain prominence.

Yogi’s clarification came on Saturday in response to a question about the Sambhal controversy, which has been linked to Bhagwat’s remarks. Yogi emphasized that the truth about Sambhal, Mathura, and Kashi must come out, and that the journey from Somnath to Sambhal is a quest for truth.

On the sideline of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, in an exclusive interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared his thoughts on the Sambhal controversy, particularly in light of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remarks. When asked about the issue, Yogi responded, “The journey from Somnath to Sambhal is a quest for truth, as highlighted in the journals Panchjanya and Organizer”. This statement underscores Yogi’s emphasis on uncovering the truth behind the controversy, rather than perpetuating misinformation or fueling tensions. (Watch video from 36:45)

Mohan Bhagwat’s lecture in Pune last December, titled “India: The Vishwaguru,” addressed concerns over temple-mosque disputes. He emphasized that some individuals are misguidedly trying to establish themselves as Hindu leaders by stirring up controversies, which he deemed “unacceptable”. Bhagwat stressed the importance of harmony, noting that Hindus have coexisted peacefully for centuries, and that this harmony should be showcased to the world.

Bhagwat’s remarks came amid ongoing debates over the Places of Worship Act and controversies surrounding temple-mosque disputes. He cautioned against raking up new issues, stating that “under the burden of the extreme past, it is not acceptable to resort to extreme hatred, malice, enmity, suspicion”. The RSS chief’s comments were welcomed by some, including the Samajwadi Party, which encouraged the RSS to take disciplinary action against those not following Bhagwat’s guidance.

The controversy surrounding Bhagwat’s remarks and Yogi’s efforts highlights the complex and sensitive nature of India’s religious heritage. Bhagwat’s comments promoting secularism in a shape of inclusivity through minority appeasement have sparked a backlash among some Hindus who feel that their own religious sites and traditions are being marginalized or erased.

The issue of Hindu temples and shrines being reclaimed from Islamic capture is a longstanding and contentious one. Many Hindus believe that numerous temples and shrines were destroyed or occupied by Muslim rulers throughout Indian history, and that these sites should be restored to their original purpose.

Yogi’s efforts to uncover the history of Islamic capture from Somnath to Sambhal have resonated with majority Hindus who feel that their cultural and religious heritage is being rediscovered and reclaimed. However, others have raised concerns that such efforts could exacerbate communal tensions and undermine India’s secular fabric.
