Crackdown on ‘Infiltrators’: Hindutva Groups in Maharashtra Demand Deportation of Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims. 

Seema Shinde | HENB | Mumbai | Feb 5, 2025:: Right-wing groups Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) and Sanatan Sanstha (SS) in Maharashtra will intensify their campaign to identify and deport Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators. They claim that hundreds of these infiltrators have been arrested in urban areas across the country, with estimates suggesting that over 8-10 lakh illegal infiltrators reside in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai alone.

The groups have launched initiatives like the “Janata NRC Campaign” to search for and identify infiltrators, with 5.5 lakh activists from Maharashtra working on the ground. HJS has also been vocal about its mission to establish a “Hindu Rashtra” and has been working to raise awareness about the issue of infiltrators, mainly the Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims.

The campaign titled, “Bangladeshi Hatao Desh Bachao” has gained momentum, with the groups urging the government to take action against the alleged infiltrators. However, the issue remains contentious, with concerns about the accuracy of the groups’ claims and the potential impact on marginalized communities.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Sanatan Sanstha (SS) have given a clarion call for a nationwide campaign to identify and deport Bangladeshi infiltrators, citing grave concerns over national security, social instability, and employment issues.

“Bangladeshi infiltrators have spread across multiple states in the country, posing a serious threat to national security. This has led to increasing social instability, rising crime rates, employment issues, and a widespread racket of individuals residing on forged documents,” said HJS and SS. “Given the situation, we have initiated this drive before the entire country turns into a scenario like West Bengal or Assam.”

The organizations claim that numerous Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators have been apprehended across India, with alarming estimates suggesting that over 8-10 lakh illegal infiltrators reside in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai alone. “Hundreds of Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators have been arrested in several urban areas across the country. It is estimated that more than 8 to 10 lakh illegal infiltrators reside in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai alone. This situation is the same across the country. In reality, these figures are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Abhay Vartak, SS spokesperson.

To address this issue, HJS and SS are advocating for a comprehensive, pan-India operation involving meticulous search and combing operations, stringent action against those involved in producing fake identity documents, and rigorous verification of tenants and employees. “Bangladeshi infiltration is a severe national security concern, and it is crucial to uproot it completely. The nationwide campaign must involve search and combing operations in all districts, cities, and towns to identify and apprehend infiltrators. Strict action must be taken against the racket involved in producing fake identity documents,” added Vartak.

Rahul Patkar, an advocate who appears in the Bombay High Court, highlighted the gravity of the issue. “Bangladeshi infiltrators are taking away employment opportunities from Indian citizens. In Sillod, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, over one lakh Bangladeshi infiltrators were shockingly issued with fake certificates. In Chiplun, Ratnagiri, out of 13 Bangladeshi nationals, only three were arrested, and even in those cases, poor handling by the police resulted in them getting bail, which is a grave issue. The judiciary granting bail to Bangladeshi infiltrators is nothing less than a mockery of the legal system.”
