‘They Will Not Give Us Adequate Security…’: Vishwa Hindu Parishad On Plans For 2,000 Rallies On Ram Navami In West Bengal.

Sayantani Das | HENB | Kolkata | April 2, 2025:: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is gearing up to celebrate Ram Navami in a big way in West Bengal, with over 2,000 rallies, 200 tableaus, and Sree Ram Mahostav events planned at 5,000 locations across the state. However, VHP South Bengal secretary Chandranath Das has expressed concerns about security, stating that the organization has had to make its own arrangements due to inadequate police protection.

Das warned that if VHP members are attacked during the celebrations, they will retaliate. This comes after past incidents where VHP rallies were attacked and stones were pelted. Despite ongoing talks with the police, Das believes that the authorities will not be able to provide adequate security.

The VHP plans to celebrate Ram Navami from April 6 to Hanuman Jayanti on April 12, with events including pujas, rallies, religious songs, and speeches about Lord Ram’s life. The organization has informed the police about the rallies and their routes, but Das emphasized that they will defend themselves if necessary.

This development comes amid a broader trend of Ram Navami celebrations becoming increasingly politicized in West Bengal, with both the BJP and TMC vying for influence.

Sources say, Bengal administration is taking proactive measures to ensure peace and harmony during the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations. Special police deployments have been made in sensitive districts, including Malda, Mushidabad, North Dinajpur, Nadia, South 24 Parganas, and Howrah, to prevent communal tensions from escalating.
