Ram Navami Security Tightened Across India: Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, West Bengal on High Alert.  

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | April 5, 2025:: As Ram Navami approaches, multiple states across India, particularly Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, have been placed on high alert. In a bid to maintain law and order, authorities have deployed additional police forces, employed drone surveillance, and implemented strict measures to prevent any potential unrest.

In Maharashtra, the government has directed police to strictly maintain law and order, especially in sensitive areas. Mumbai Police has conducted route marches and flag marches involving over 100 personnel to ensure peace. The police have also urged people not to believe in rumors and to maintain communal harmony. Social media is also under strict watch to prevent the spread of misinformation.

In Uttar Pradesh, grand arrangements are in place in Ayodhya, expecting around 10 lakh devotees for Ram Navami. Processions in Western UP districts like Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Aligarh, and Moradabad are being closely monitored with drones and CCTV. Senior officials in Lucknow are reviewing preparations through video conferencing to ensure a peaceful celebration.

In Bihar, DJ usage has been completely banned, with police seizing over 230 DJ setups in Rohtas district. Meetings with peace committees and social media surveillance are ongoing to avoid unrest during the elections and ongoing protests over the Waqf bill.

The authorities are taking no chances, deploying thousands of police personnel and using advanced technology to monitor the situation. The aim is to ensure a peaceful and harmonious celebration of Ram Navami across the states. With these measures in place, the authorities are confident that the festivities will pass off without any major incidents.

Security tightened also  in West Bengal

In anticipation of Ram Navami celebrations, the West Bengal government has deployed 29 IPS officers in 10 sensitive regions across the state, including Kolkata, Howrah, and Barrackpore. The move aims to maintain law and order and prevent any potential unrest during the festivities.

According to sources, the Kolkata Police and the West Bengal Police have tightened security in their respective jurisdictions. In Kolkata, approximately 4,000 to 5,000 police personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order. Permission has been granted for 59 Ram Navami rallies in the city, with six major ones expected to draw 1,200 to 1,500 devotees each.

The police have warned of action against organizers if rallies are taken out without permission. To ensure a peaceful celebration, surveillance drones and body cameras will be used to monitor processions. Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Heavy Radio Flying Squads (HRFS), and Police Control Room (PCR) vans will also be stationed at key locations.

Restrictions have been placed on goods vehicle entry into the city, except for those carrying milk, vegetables, and fuel. The police are also focusing on preventing the spread of rumors through social media.

The security measures are aimed at maintaining peace and order during the Ram Navami celebrations, following past incidents of communal tensions and violence in the state. With these measures in place, the authorities are confident that the festivities will pass off without any major incidents.

BJP leader and former MP Dilip Ghosh has criticized the West Bengal administration and police for allegedly failing to protect the religious rights of Hindus in the state. Ghosh claims that Hindus are unable to freely celebrate their religious practices due to the administration’s incompetence.

He pointed out that Hindus are forced to approach the courts to obtain permission for their religious programs and processions, highlighting the lack of protection provided by the police for Hindu events. Ghosh condemned the West Bengal administration for its inability to ensure the smooth conduct of Hindu religious events.

Thousands Gather in Ayodhya for Ram Navami Celebrations

Thousands of devotees have gathered in Ayodhya to celebrate Ram Navami, marking the birth of Lord Rama. The festivities are centered around the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Hanumangadi, and various Saryu ghats and temples.

Special puja ceremonies are being performed at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and other sacred sites, with devotees participating in the events. The temple is open for 19 hours, allowing devotees to catch a glimpse of Ram Lalla.

As Ram Navami approaches, Ayodhya is transformed into a vibrant celebration hub. The city’s streets and houses are adorned with colorful garlands, lights, and paintings, creating a festive atmosphere. The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, a revered site in Hinduism, is grandiosely illuminated, showcasing its intricate architecture.

The temple is preparing for the festivities, with special puja ceremonies and darshan planned for devotees with the large and direct  display of ‘Suryatilak’ for Lord Ram.  of . The city is buzzing with excitement, and the atmosphere is electric with anticipation.
