LoP Suvendu Adhikari sharply reacts as bike with Jai Shri Ram flag prevented inside WB Assembly by security guard.

West Bengal Assembly Erupts in Controversy Over “Jai Shri Ram” Flag. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari vehemently reacts against anti-Hindu attitude of Mamata Government. 

Sankirtan Das | HENB | Kolkata | April 8, 2025::On April 7, 2025, a controversy arose at the West Bengal Assembly house gate when MLA Shankar Ghosh’s security personnel attempted to enter the premises with a small flag of Lord Ram on his bike. However, he was stopped by the police on duty. The matter was reported to Suvendu Adhikari, leader of the opposition and a prominent BJP leader liked with Hindutva movement in Bengal, who rushed to protest. Upon seeing Adhikari’s arrival, the errant police personnel quickly left the scene. Adhikari then protested the incident, shouting slogans with other BJP MLAs and expressing his concerns to the press.

It was later divulged that when BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh’s security personnel was entering through the main gate of Assembly house, one police personnel stopped him as a flag was mounted on his bike with a image of Lord Ram with the writings ‘Jai Shri Ram’.  Soon it was reported to LoP Adhikary, he instantly chased the security room at the gate and wanted to know the modus operandi of the police to impose a ban on ‘Jai Shri Ram’ flag inside WB Legislative Assembly.

An enraged Suvendu Adhikari warned the police by saying, “This is not Pakistan. No one can prevent anybody to carry Jai Sri Ram flag with him. Is this an Islamic country? Do you want to impose an Islamic law here? ” Afterwards, Suvendu rushed to the hall of Assembly house to find out the errant police personnel shouting solgans like , ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Jai Shri Ramer Apamam manchi na manbo na’ (we will not tolerate the humilation of Jai Shri Ram) etc. As Adhikari arrived, the errant police personnel quickly fled the scene, leaving the BJP leader to express his outrage.

Afterwards, Adhikari asked whether the present West Bengal is ruled by a Muslim League Government and whether Kolkata has been turned as Islamabad!

Briefing the press about the incident, Adhikari stated, “We are the sons of Hindus. This country is known as Hindusthan. We will not tolerate any kind of humiliation of Hindus by anybody.” He condemned the perceived attack on Hindus and their religious sentiments.

Adhikari urged the public to reject the current Trinamool Congress government, saying, “Throw the present TMC government to the water of Ganges and push the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, into Kalighat to save the state from an unwanted peril.”

The incident has sparked a fresh wave of controversy in West Bengal, with the BJP and the Trinamool Congress locked in a critical struggle for power.
