Pahalgam terror attack: 26 people dead, several injured. Islamist groups claimed responsibility.

Kashmir terror attack before the starting of Hindu pilgrimage of Annual Amarnath yatra  which is scheduled to begin on July 3.

26 people died, several injured in Pahalgam. Largest terror attack in the valley since the 2019 attack in Pulwama. Eyewitnesses said that the tourists were ambushed by the terrorists who asked them about their religious identity before shooting them.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | April 22, 2025:: At least 26 tourists, mostly Hindu tourists  from  Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. have been killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Pahalgam’s Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir. Gunshots were heard in the area, following which security forces rushed there. Initial reports suggested a possible terror attack at a site frequented by tourists, the police said. Security forces have been rushed to the area, and an operation is currently underway, reported PTI.

The incident occurred at around 3 pm when terrorists came down from the mountain in Baisaran valley and started firing at the tourists who frequent the place, which is often dubbed as ‘mini Switzerland’ because of its long, lush green meadows. The attacks took place on Tuesday, reported PTI, in the deadliest attack the valley has seen since the 2019 attack in Pulwama after which BJP led Union Government declared a ‘Zero Tolerance To the Terror Groups’. 

The present attack in Pahalgam took place at Baisaran where a group of tourists had gone visiting on Tuesday. An eyewitness said that gunmen opened fire on the tourists from close range, resulting in injuries. The 26 dead included two foreigners – from UAE and Nepal – and two locals, a high ranking official said without getting into details.  Eyewitnesses said that the tourists were ambushed by the terrorists who asked them about their religious identity before shooting them.

Authorities pressed a chopper into service for the evacuation of the injured persons, the officials said, adding some of the injured were brought down from the meadows by local people on their ponies.

Combing operations are on to nab the terrorists at any cost.


The incident comes when Kashmir is witnessing a surge in tourist arrivals after reeling under militancy for years. Also, the 38-day Amarnath pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on July 3.

Various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir called for a shutdown in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as a mark of protests against the terror attack in Pahalgam.

Cutting the edges of party lines all the Political Parties condemned the attacks and requested to stay together in the crucial turn of time. 

The Resistance Front, a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, claimed responsibility for the attack but a government statement confirming the same is awaited.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amti Shah and asked him to take “suitable measures”. Later in the day, Mr Shah reached Srinagar to take stock of the situation. Mr Modi, who reached Saudi Arabia earlier in the day for a two-day visit, cut short his trip and is scheduled to return early on Wednesday, sources said.

    The terror-inspiring teachings of Islam will never cease to breed terrorism and all terrorist attacks made by Islamic terrorists must result in claiming precious human lives. Terrorism is absolutely inhuman and cannot be condoned in any civilized society, but repelling such cowardly surprise terror attacks is not always possible for the Indian troops deployed in the areas of Kashmir. It really necessary for India to take stern military action against Pakistan, the prime aim of which has always been to support some dangerous disgruntled terrorist organisations existing in the vast Kashmir valley. There is no denying that if there is terrorism in India it is covertly sponsored by Pakistan. Islam and terrorism must continue to exist together and they are bound to be inseparable, for Islam is nothing but a terrorist ideology. Studying the Islamic scriptures will help you understand the true nature of Islam. Far from being a religion of peace, Islam definitely advocates the use of violence against those rejecting its pernicious barbaric teachings. Islam is barbarous and anti-Kafir. Like India, Israel is also being invaded by Islamic terrorists, but Israel knows full well how to retaliate against the terror attacks made by Muslim savages. Despite being surrounded by enemy countries, the intrepid Israeli forces known as IDF enter enemy territories and kill Islamic terrorists like insects. It is rarely that Israel fails to exterminate its enemies. Isn’t it really necessary for India to become Israel now?
