Border Security Force (BSF) pushes 66 Muslims from Gujarat into Bangladesh.

Only 66 illegal Muslims caught from Gujarat pushed into Bangladesh through Khagrachhari borders.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | New Delhi | May 7,  2025:: In a startling incident, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has reportedly pushed 66 Muslims from Gujarat into Bangladesh through the Khagrachhari borders. According to the district administration, the individuals crossed into Bangladesh through three borders in Matiranga and Panchari upazilas.

The individuals in question were reportedly residing in Gujarat without proper documents and visas, occupying government lands in utter unauthorised way, and allegedly involved in various crimes. This development has sparked debate about the treatment of alleged illegal Muslim migrants and the measures taken by authorities to address the issue.

There are over 5 lakhs Muslim infiltrators and migrants in Gujarat came from Bangladesh through West Bengal. But, Gujarat Police took action against only 1000 such infiltrators and migrants so far. There are 5 Cr illegal Bangladeshi in India upon which Union Government is yet to take any action.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Khagrachhari district, Nazmun Ara Sultana, confirmed the incident, stating that 15 individuals entered through the Taindong border of Matiranga, 27 through the Shantipur border under Gomti union, and 24 through the Rupsen Para border under Logang union of Panchari.

The 27 individuals who entered through the Shantipur border took shelter in a house at Polashpur village, where locals informed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). BGB members subsequently arrived and took them into custody.

According to locals, the individuals are residents of Gujarat state in India and Muslims, able to speak both Gujarati and Bengali. While BGB officials have not commented on the matter, the district administration has provided humanitarian aid, including food and shelter, to the affected individuals.

The incident has raised concerns about the strict treatment of illegal Muslim infiltrators from Bangladesh and their push back  in Bangladesh.  It was not confirmed whether there was any Rohigya Muslim in the batch of push backed migrants.
