A New Era of Vigilance: Chhattisgarh Plans to Crack Down on Bangladeshi Infiltrators.

Chhattisgarh Launches Special Drive Against Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants And Infiltrators, Forms Task Forces.

Upendra Bharti | HENB | Raipur | May 12, 2025:: In a bold move to safeguard national security, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to form special task forces in every district to identify and deport Bangladeshi infiltrators and illegal immigrants. This decisive action comes on the heels of concerns over potential threats posed by these individuals and follows a pattern of proactive measures taken by the state in the past.

A Proven Track Record

Chhattisgarh has been at the forefront of tackling illegal immigration, having deported around 850 Bangladeshi infiltrators in December 2023, including 350 from Kawardha district. This latest initiative underscores the state’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens.

Special Task Forces: A New Strategy

The state government has instructed district superintendents of police to establish special task forces, tasked with tracking down illegal immigrants and taking necessary action. This includes verifying the documents of workers employed by contractors, business owners, and scrap dealers. Those found to be harboring illegal immigrants will face strict action.

Chhattisgarh’s Deputy CM and state Home Minister Vijay Sharma has directed the formation of special task forces in every district to identify and deport Bangladeshi infiltrators and illegal immigrants. The move aims to address national security concerns and prevent the production of forged documents for illegal immigrants. Key actions include:

– Special Task Forces: District superintendents of police will form task forces to track down and deport illegal immigrants.
– Document Verification: Contractors, business owners, and scrap dealers must verify the documents of their workforce.
– Information Sharing: Districts will share information with the state government on actions taken against illegal immigrants.

“This campaign is crucial from a national security perspective, as these infiltrators could pose serious challenges. There will also be action against those who engage in producing forged documents for illegal immigrants,” said Sharma. Sharma also conveyed the stiff stand of CM Vishnu Deo Sai on this matter.

The initiative underscores the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring national security.

Document Verification: A Key Component

A thorough review of authorized documents such as ration cards, Aadhaar, voter IDs, driving licenses, and PAN cards will be conducted to ascertain their validity. This move aims to prevent the misuse of documents and identify individuals who have entered the state without proper authorization.

Not Just Chhattisgarh: A National Effort

Chhattisgarh is not alone in this endeavor. Other states, including Odisha and Gujarat, have also taken measures to address the issue of illegal immigration. Odisha has identified over 3,700 Bangladeshi nationals, with the highest concentrations found in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts. Gujarat has also cracked down on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, detaining hundreds and initiating deportation proceedings.

A Message of Vigilance

The Chhattisgarh government’s efforts send a strong message of vigilance and determination to protect the state’s borders and citizens. By forming special task forces and verifying documents, the state aims to effectively identify and deport those who are residing in the state without proper authorization. As the nation watches, one question remains: will this initiative set a precedent for other states to follow? It is expected that at least the B JP run states will make the initiative on urgent basis.

Ashwini Upadhyay, a senior BJP leader and reputed advocate in the Supreme Court has knocked the apex court to expel the estimated 5 Crore illegal Bangladeshis in a write petition. Though the matter is pending, the initiative in some states to remove the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and infiltrators is a glimmer of hope, if not an eyewash in apolitical stunt.
